For professional use Standard MD hardware easily wins over Hi-MD units with their small fiddly buttons and needless restrictions.

Optical out, are you listening Sony? Heaven forbid they actually try to manufacture a professional Hi-MD deck one day....

Yes and that lossless copying function of discs is fantastic. Of course you would need at least two units linked up but I believe it is at 4x speed. Good luck!

Fully agreed.

From the user manual, it seems that you will have to issue one copy command per track. A good old MDS-W1 allows you to duplicate and defrag an entire minidisc at once !

Probably the most complete example of a minidisc unit ever made. I have two myself ^_^

Actually I just bought it to have a MD unit with an optical out to plug into a Digital Audio Convertissor (like my Arcam Balck Box 3 that I have in France).

I suppose that the music will sound better compare to analogue out. Can you confirm that to me ? Could this machine sound better than an MD deck, that is also a question.

Anyway, I need to come back in France first (next summer) to check the possibility of the machine. Then I will bring back the machine in Vietnam where I live.

Tascam MDCD 1 MK2, a professional MD also has CD and MDLP :

much much more expensive anyway !
