Question

Hello,

i want to ask a question about my Vaio VPCEB1S1E. It has i5 430M ATI 5650 1GB

Yesterday i made a format and i installed Windows 7 Ultimate x64.

In device manager appears the ATI 5650 as a graphic card.

I think that also the Intel's onboard card should have appeared.

Am i wrong?

I am telling this because i know that i5 has integrated graphic card, and i had an Acer which had also ATI and Intel's appearing in device manager as graphic cards.

When it was working with the battery the onboard was active for battery economy.

When it was plugged in the electric charger the ATI was working.

Does my VAIO has this ability? I am asking because the battery ends too fast.

Sony gives drivers for both the ATI and the Intel's graphic cards.

Please if you know answer me ASAP.

Thank you

P.S. Sorry for my bad English, it's because i am from Greece.

welcome to SOnyinsider ,

as far as I know you can only use ATI card only .its similar to desktop pc, where once you install graphic card, onbard graphics are disabled (unless you pull out the graphics card ).

to save battery :

these things you can do :

1.Don't use screen at full brightness .

2.Keep the DVD or BD rom off (when you;re not using it )

3 try to use balanced mode or poversaver mode installed of high performance one.

Jimmmi,

You just need to find the correct driver, likely from Sony, to support both graphics cards. This new design paradigm allows one to run the system with the built in Intel HD graphics to save power while on battery and automatically switch to the higher performance discrete graphics system for gaming and other graphics intensive tasks.

You mentioned that you wiped the drive and reinstalled Windows 7 Ultimate, you need to locate the correct grivers for both graphics systems. There may also be some other tricks to get W7 to recognize both adapters.

Good luck!
