I recently bought a Sharp IT-MT880 NetMD Minidisk recorder and hope to achieve high quality results. Since the NetMD/OpenGM system does not allow MD recordings to be uploaded via USB I suppose one must play the MD/ATRAC recorded material (real time) thru the head phone jack into the pc's soundcard (in my case sound blaster live with 1/4" or SPID/F inputs on a internal drive bay) while using an audio editor such as SoundForge to record it. So my question is there an advantage to using a product such as the Dayton Audio AD Converter to convert the MD output to digital in order to use the SPID/F coax input over the analogue 1/4" input? Seems like it may be cleaner due to ad conversion happening outside the pc. Thank you kindly for taking the time to assist me.

It could be useful, esp since the SB Live! isn't that flash with line-in - mine seems rather a tad noisy.

Have you tried analogue real-time recording from your Sharp? If it isn't to your liking, then perhaps it is worth the investment.

BTW, don't double post, please.
