Tomdigital
http://www.connect.com/download.htmlSorry but that info is wrong - this is the american version. Us europeans need the european version of 2.1, since the connect musicshop will only work then. So far I have not been able to update the european edition. jadeclaw
Europe is stuck with the 2.0 Europeans have the choice: music shop + crappy software or useable software and no music shop. Personally, I decided against the shop, as I don't pay 9 to 12 euros for a 132k file. Btw, BMG/Sony decided to reduce the price for CDs, making Sony's online offer quite questionable. (IMHO & IANAL of course...)
bhangraman
AHHHHH!!!!!!! So sorry... I've got an account on the US site so I wasn't paying attention. This is not a Sony approved fix and I offer no warranty of suitability and no guarantees of any kind, but if you're au fait with Regedit, it's pretty simple to get Connect of your local country to show up within Sonicstage. First of all, launch Internet Explorer and type in www.connect.com. After a while, you'll be redirected to the Connect service in your country. Copy that address from the Address field. Launch Regedit, Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWARESony CorporationEMD You should see a key called HomeURL on the right hand pane. Double-click into that key, and Paste in the redirected URL that you got. Close Regedit and whenever you open the Connect service within Sonicstage, you'll now go to your home country site. 2.1 should be available shortly everywhere. I'm not sure why it isn't. RichM
I downloaded SonicStage 2.1 from the US site and installed it over, but I changed the url to the US Connect site in the registry to the European one about a week or two back, that worked but, when I tried to claim my three free downloads at the European Connect (specifically when I attempted to download them) it spat out a cryptic error at me. I lost my free downloads, not that I care that much, but it was possibly due to my use of 2.1 at the European site rather than 2.0, this is speculation though. jadeclaw
What exactly has been added / improved with this new version? Because I'm not finding anything overly different after the update.Much better stability(2.0 crashed every 5 Minutes on my comp), better codecs, when ripping CDs for download onto MD and it is much more responsive (2.0 exhibits 3 second lockups, when scrolling through a long list and had serious problems with big albums.).
