  1. Hi, my player seems to have died. even when it's plugged into a wall outlet or pc there's no display. Is this always what happens when you need a new battery? EDIT: Nevermind, it'll turn on when the battery is removed and it's plugged into the pc. It won't turn on or charge if the battery is in and it's connected to the pc. seems a little odd, but I guess I just need a new batt.
  2. hi, I've used my MZ-M200 with the bundled mic to record my 5-piece band in a garage. of course I'm planning on recording other bands in various concert settings as well. I've just read it should be recording in manual instead of auto, so I'm eager to try that out...but this post is just to make sure I'm on the right track for what I'd like to get in the future. I was warned the bundled mic is trash and I should get something better. even so, we were pretty impressed with the recording, and the audible moments of compression probably have to do with it being in auto mode. anyway, as good as it sounds, I'll probably buy better mics at some point. from what I've read, recording line-in with these mics and this battery module should yield great results.
  3. Hi, I'm expecting the MZ M200 in the mail soon. I've read I should forget about using the included stereo mic. I saw this thread and like A440's suggestion of "Mic-->battery module-->LINE-in Rec Volume set to Manual (this requires going through menus on the unit) at about 20/30." the difference in my case is that I'm not trying to smuggle anything into a gig, and I wonder if there are better mics than the BMC-2 that I could use with the battery module. we've got 2 guitars, bass, drums, and keyboard. and everyone minus the drummer has a loud amp.
  4. I read that Sony Music Japan continues to produce pre-recorded minidiscs, but I can't find a catalogue of titles. some of you may know of the n5MD IDM label, which stands for no 5", MDs! unfortunately, they only released 6 MDs before Sony US stopped manufacturing pre-recorded. I wish something similar still existed. MDs are such a great format for the electronic genre.
