  1. The MZ-B100 and B10 are the most accessible for blind people, because their record button stays pressed while one records and pops out, when the recording stops. So if the recorder has to stop, because the battery is flat and the recording person then touches the record button, it becomes immediately clear, that the recording has been stopped. In environments with little noise, one can even hear the recording button when it pops out. The B100 has a mic sense switch and a sound button, one has to use the menu of the B10 to use these functions on it. Also the B100 has a built-in stereo microphone. If one wants to set the recording mode, one can set the machine to record pause mode, press the rec mode button and listen: If the output is monaural, one is in mono mode. One can then cound: Mono, stereo, LP2, LP4. ON the B10, this is only possible by connecting a stereo mic to the recorder. In my opinion, the B100 is definitely worth the money, if one wants better accessibility.
  2. The MZ-B100 is a minidisc dictation recorder with a built-in stereo microphone and a built-in speaker. A footswitch for the unit is available separately.
  3. In another thread I read, that one can scroll through the groups of an MD with the MZ-RH10 without having to use the remote. I'd like to skip from group to group without the remote and without having to use the display. One can do that with the MZ-NH700 and its group button. After pressing it one can go from group to group with the forward or back function of the unit. Can one do something similar on the MZ-RH10? Thanks
  4. Eshilon: I don't want to scroll, I want to skip by pressing a button. I want to skip from group to group without having to look at the display. With the NH700, I press the group button and whenever I then press forward or back, I hear the beginning of the first track of the previous or next group. Can one do a similar thing with the RH10? Thanks
  5. Can all functions of the rh1 be used without the remote? I'd like to skip from group to group by pressing buttons on the main unit. This is possible with the NH700 but not with the RH10. Also, does the RH1 have a line-out socket or does one switch the headphone out to line-out via the menu? Thanks
  6. I can record well with the 640. I stop the recording and press play: The recording sounds fine. I press off or eject: I get an empty TOC, even if I previously made a recording on the same disc with another recorder. TOCWrite always creates an empty TOC. Tried it with five different discs, which all work fine in my other recorders. Removed the AC plug and reinserted it: No change. Do you believe, that a lense cleaner could help? I also wonder, whether I should try to get it repaired or just buy a new deck. My 640 is only three years old although I used it several hours a day. Thanks
  7. Do we really still want to use Minidisc for that? Isn't a motorized recorder too noisy, when one wants to use a built-in stereo microphone? I bought the Sony ICD-MX20, which uses DUO Memory Sticks. It has a wonderful built-in stereo microphone. It's so good, that Sony may see it as the successor to its business MD recorders. However, its maximum bitrate is 48 KBPS, so it may not be the machine for radio broadcast quality recordings. But its digital voiceup function makes speech really sound clearer and since the built-in mic is so good, one can often leave the ext mic at home.
  8. I read that one doesn't need the remote, when one uses the RH10 at all. However, I can't seem to find a way to directly skip from group to group by pressing a button without the remote. I'd be pleased if I was wrong. Is there a way to do that with just the main unit? Thanks
  9. In the manual of my MZ-NH700 I found the following: > When you record with analog (line) input, unnecessary track marks may be recorded where recording level is low. I actually find this quite useful. When I make recordings from the Radio, which last several hours, a mark or two at long pauses is fine for me! However, I haven't found more details about this "feature?" in the mmanual. Can one switch this off? At which audio threshold is such a trackmark set? How long has the pause to be, to trigger the automark? With Sony decks, there's the auto t-mark feature, the thrashhold of which can be set and the minimum pause always has to be 1.5 seconds. Is this seemingly hardly documented thing, about which my 700 manual talks a kind of equivalent to this MD deck feature? Thanks
  10. I read, that the RH10 comes with a stand or case for the supplied gumstick battery. I also read, that one can charge the gumstick of the 910 directly in the player. So how exactly does one charge the 10's battery? Does one have to put the machine into a supplied cradle, because only this cradle has an AC adapter socket? Or can one also charge it directly in the player? Thanks
  11. I'd like to copy an MD to a CD. All trackmarks from the Minidisc should be on the CD. I can't use a simple pause detector, because I have spoken word audio on the MD. So, I'd like to use a sound card with an optical input socket. But would that really be enough to recognize the MD trackmarks? I'd proberbly have to use special software, because if I'd use a normal wave editor like Sound Forge, it wouldn't start a new Wave file, whenever a new track signal is sent via the optical input. I looked at the Xitel Mdport i/o, it can only recognize trackmarks via pause detection. It doesn't even have an optical input jack. Does anybody here know of a good method? The only thing, which would surely work is a hifi CD recorder, but I don't want to buy one at the moment. Thanks Dwis
  12. I put a blank Minidisc into my MZ-NH700 and recorded onto it. Because the default disc mode is HI-MD, the recordings aren't playable on my none HI-MD recorders. The manual says that, if one puts a blank MD (not a HI-MD) into the recorder, it uses the disc mode, which is set in the menu. So I deleted my MD, set Disc mode to MD and then re-inserted the MD. However, it still records in HI-MD mode onto the disc. I can't seem to find a way to convert it back to the none HI-MD format. Is the conversion to HI-MD really irreversible? Thanks
