  1. I had great service from MDC, but I paid with credit card directly instead of going through paypal. I also had no problem talking to a live person the one time I called them. Of course, this was a while ago (over 18 months ago) so things may have changed lately.
  2. Tried out a laptop HD (with my MP3s nested several layers deep in subdirectories) in a USB enclosure with my CDX-GT410u and it worked fine when powered externally. The HD enclosure uses two USB cables, one for data and one for power. I tried plugging both USB cables into a mini-hub and plugging the hub into the deck, but the deck showed the error "USB HUB NOT SUPPORTED" In short, here's a list of working and non-working devices with the head unit: Working: USB Flash Drive (1gb, 2gb, and 4gb tested) USB/SD Adapter (1gb tested) Benq MP3 Player (with USB to Mini-USB cable) Sony Camera (!) (with USB to Mini-USB cable) USB HD (if powered externally) (40gb tested) Not Working: Sony MiniDisc Players (NH600D, NH900 tested by me, NH1 tested by another poster) USB Hub or any devices with a built-in Hub Audiovox SMT5600 Windows Smartphone (with USB to Mini-USB cable)
  3. I also just purchased the CDX-GT410U hoping my nh900 would work through the USB port. No luck. The MD says "PC -- MD" but the car stereo says "USB Device not recognized" I was extremely disappointed, since the xplodsony site said that it worked with all "Sony Walkman devices with USB support" so I assume it will work with Sony devices like these: As well as any USB devices that support drag'n'drop of audio files as a standard USB removable storage.
  4. Looks like this deal is pretty much dead. eBay is filled with all these exact same bundles, all selling at double the price that Minidisc.com.au was selling them at, and all coming from Australia. Either they sold out to the locals and the locals are making a killing reselling them on ebay (likely), or Sefu decided to sell them at twice the price on eBay instead (unlikely). Either way, someone in Australia is making quite a bit of profit from these bundles.
  5. Yeah, I found that I had to push the gumstick batteries into the charger a little bit more firmly than I thought. Then, I'd have to close the cover nice and tight. I even resorted to using tape to keep the cover closed tight. If the battery pops out, it pushes the cover open. Therefore, if you don't let the cover open up, the battery won't pop out. Crappy, but it works.
  6. I loved the sight of this: http://www.atraclife.com/2006/01/06/connec...ces-2006-day-2/ Apparently, this device has been available for months, and never caught my eye. Is there a chance that Sony is releasing car decks with this functionality built in? Any sign of anything like that at CES?
  7. Great communication, ultra fast payment. Hell, ultra fast purchase. I had the item up for about 15 minutes before it was sold. (ok, not quite 15 minutes, but close ) Thanks! http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=13220
  8. I'm trying to transfer an Audio CD to a HiMD device as LP2 with Simple Burner. Is this possible? The only choices I'm given are Hi-LP, Hi-SP, PCM, etc...
  9. Now, now. That iRiver has some impressive specs. I'm sure if Sony had released an identical device, all the Sony fanboys here would be saying "Hey! Ditch your MD! This Sony device is amazing!" but because it's an iRiver, you're crying "troll!"
  10. Just to clarify for people unfamiliar with the remote, it is a white plastic remote, with a green backlight on the LCD. It is NOT a white backlight. Sold!
  11. Hi all, I'm selling an inline backlit LCD remote RM-MC33EL. Check HERE for details on the remote. I purchased the remote on eBay, but found that I HATE the white plastic look. (looks too much like an iPod accessory). I ended up purchasing a silver one afterwards. I'm selling it for $20US with free shipping anywhere North America via Canada Post standard lettermail, or anywhere worldwide for $3US Canada Post standard lettermai. Will be packaged in a bubble wrap envelope. The remote is brand new, never used. Still has the plastic covering the screen. I plugged it into my MD just to make sure it worked. Did I mention that I hate the white plastic? Ok, maybe I'm not the best salesperson, but I don't know what I was thinking.
  12. Why the aversion to eBay? If you look at the seller's profile on eBay, they sometimes have an online non-eBay store that you can purchase from directly. Is your aversion directed to bid placing? Paypal? eBay? or is it directed to small online sellers with no real reputation? Do you want to make an actual credit card direct purchase, and have the extended credit card warranty that goes along with buying a new product? If you find an eBay seller with a separate online store, you may be able to do it that way.
  13. I've read several things on this board about converting from MP3 to ATRAC. I've also looked over a thread in the "News" section that (d)evolved into a debate between lossy and lossless, and frankly, that thread hurts my brain. Simple question: If you convert a 128/160/192 lossy MP3 into a "lossless" WAV file, is there more audio data magically created in the WAV file? (or, does the WAV file sound better than the original MP3?) Several threads have suggested converting MP3's to an Audio CD (or a virtual Audio CD) and then using Simple Burner to copy it to the minidisc player. I'm just wondering if this is because the final ATRAC file ends up sounding better...?
  14. If you are using Sonicstage 3.3, when you transfer the track back to your computer, it should ask you if you want to convert it to WAV format, as well as asking the location to save it in (ie: My Documents\My Music). YOu can very easily burn the WAV files to CD. If you are using an older version, I don't think it will ask you this.
