  1. Thanks for that very thoughtful comparison. I wouldn't be thinking about switching at all if this glitch hadn't come up, first; now I have to ponder the flashcard/MD thing for a replacement unit (there are also the M-Audio Microtrack and the Roland Boss units). Ergh. Back to Audacity and recording from the M100. Everything I read (For the supplied Windows Simple Burner software, anyway) says all I do is plug in the M100 via USB and play to make the audio available to the computer. But it seems to me I'd need to connect it via a line-in, and in fact neither the Mac or Audacity can see the unit to even tag it as an input device. That's what I did in the end, connecting mini stereo to mini stereo line-in, monitoring with Audio Recorder while recording with Audacity, as I couldn't monitor the recording any other way. Worked just fine in the end, crisis averted. Thanks for everyone's input.
  2. Thanks to both of you, Audacity's now installed; off to get the cables for real-time recording (have MD Transfer 2.0 though, that's what may have caused the original problem, allowing me to do something I shouldn't have). Do you think the RH1 is a better choice than the Edirol or Boss 24-bit wav/mp3 recorder, for example? Starting to get skiddish about the MD. (Don't know if this is an appropriate discussion for this forum.) Important things for me are reliability, highly intuitive user interface...and recording quality, of course.
  3. Sorry, didn't mean to get into a political discussion. Is there any possibility I might be able to transfer the recordings from the mini-disk and onto something I could access, using anything on any sort of computer? Thanks again.
  4. I'm getting the "Warning! Import failed. Could not read data from source" when attempting to transfer tracks from my MZ-M100 using Sony Hi-MD Transfer on a Macbook Pro. . I have never had a problem in the past. . I did not bump or drop the unit. . I can play and hear all the tracks perfectly on the disk using the M100. . I renamed the tracks from the software prior to attempting the download, something I have never done before. . I can't rename the tracks on the unit, it cancels every edit I attempt. . To add insult to injury, the Sony support site does not submit my e-mail when I click Send. Is there anything I can do to get these tracks off the minidisk? I can run a PC program in Windows on Parallels if need be. Thanks for any assistance... (and Sony: nevermore.)
