I have an NW-HD3, and I *think* that the main differences from the HD1 is the keypad position (central on the HD3, mid-upper on the HD1) and the native ability to read MP3 (which you won't need). On sorting the tracks, they keep on the order you throw them, BUT if you fill in the TRACK NUMBER field on sonicstage, the tracks will follow that order instead of the order you throw them in. That's how my NW-HD3 behaves though.
-
That's my problem, I was doing *everything* with sonicstage 3.3, and there was *no* track on the nw-hd3, as I formatted it several times.
-
I Had the autosync option disabled. But due to the nature of the message, it seems its not a problem with syncing, but the dreaded DRM sony imposes. I'll try now restoring my library (20Gigs of it!) and praying I won't have to re-encode everything again.
-
As far as I know, there is no reset on the NW-HD series, unless it's very well hidden. There is a menu option that "Restores Factory Settings" and doesn't format anything, just resets the menu options, such as sound, display, etc. What do you mean it goes on and on? If the player is connected, SonicStage open, it will go on as long as I keep clicking the "OK" on the dialog. Otherwise it just waits for me to click the ok, so it can repeat itself Kidding aside, I can at least use the walkman now, thanks to MP3FM. I tried formatting it again after I had connected with no problems once, and again came the dreaded error.
-
You mean the format/initialize and restore factory settings? I've tried both, to no effect. A *partial* solution I managed to come up with is installing mp3fm (the mp3 file installer) and transferring something to the walkman. That way sonicstage works, but if the walkman is clean, I can't do anything. In a way, my problems are solved by this, but it is ridiculous. I *have* to have something on the drive so it won't crash, claiming the *nothing* that is inside is invalid. Again, ridiculous.

From the beginning... I was refreshing my NW-HD3, and imported all the files from the device to the computer via SS3.3. At the end of the transfer, I got an error saying that one of the tracks couldn't be imported back since it hadn't been exported from my computer. Dismissing the error as trivial (It had happened before, with other tracks, to no ill effect. And btw, the track HAD been exported from my computer) I promptly deleted it from the walkman, and then, just for the sake of it, proceeded to format it. BIG, BIG, BIG mistake. Since them, I cannot connect the NW-HD3 to my machine as SonicStage will enter a perpetual loop, "checking for tracks that might have not been exported" and coming up with this error: The rights information (MAC) of the track is invalid. Untitled And then doing it all over again and again. I've tried uninstalling the software (four times now), cleaning the registry, removing the folders that were hidden under documents and settings/all users/application data/.... And now I've run out of ideas. Unfortunately reinstalling windows is out of the question, strikes me as absurd having to do that because some crappy software misbehaves. Please, Please, Please some enlightened soul come help me!

I'll try to send a picture as well, but no, the player won't be juggling around. I can't speak for the HD5, as I have an HD3, but I guess they have roughly the same dimensions... The MD is squarier, and smaller than the HD3, so the HD actually sits tighter on the armband.

As I said on my first post, I bought both the rm-mc40elk (I'll refer to the remotes by number only from now on, since it is the main change) and the 35 on e-bay. The 35 will probably arrive first. It is a pity that the 55 won't display anything with my hd3, as I prefer its ergonomics to that of the 40. And my point is, no matter which one is better, they *all* should work, being *universal* remotes. Why does the display of the 40 and 35 work when the others won't, even if they work with *older* equipment? The 55 is the latest model, and won't display anything on the hd3, but works like a charm with my MD, a very old model (N505). Since my 40 haven't arrived yet, I can't comment on its functions, but it seems to me that the 55 does have more functions, including a search button...

Actually, Sony-Europe support page for the NW-HD5 (http://www.sonydigital-link.com/dna/wm/NWH/NWH.asp?l=en&m=NW-HD5) lists the RM-MC35ELK and the RM-MC60EL as compatible models.
-
Both the RM-MC55ELK and the RM-MC33EL can skip to the next playlist using the GROUP buttons. While I cannot change the kind of playlist (artist, genre, album, etc.) as a result of not having anything displayed, the group buttons will obey the current mode and skip to the next album, or group, or genre, or whatever.

The MD-CASE4 is definitely less thick than the MD-CASE3... which is a plus for me since I don't mountain-bike But to each its own, and if you'd like to see it, here's the link: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0001YFYF...garden&v=glance And don't ask me why Amazon classifies it as home and garden! I paid 12.95 at a Target store in San Diego.

In my opinion that is the ugliest case Sony ever produced. It's alternate name is MD-CASE3. I've got one. I also have the MD-CASE4 (Both were used for my MZ-N505 MD) which in my opinion is a lot better than the other. Less bulky, and can also be used as a belt case, as the armband is removable.
-
Well, I can say that the RM-MC55ELK and the RM-MC33EL can control almost all of my NW-HD3 functions, but the display won't work. Both remotes work fully with my MD MZ-N505R. I'm waiting for an RM-MC40ELK and an RM-MC35ELK that I bought on e-bay to arrive. remote collecting anyone?

How about the new CONNECT player, could you elaborate on it? Expected release date, performance compared to SS3.2, ease-of-use, capabilities... Anything useful!
