Have you tried to call tech support? I don't mean to sound funny, I know that Sony has gotten a bad rap for their phone support. My friend was having a issue with his Sony PC. Believing like most of us, that I could figure out the issue I was hesitant in calling. But I did. I called and the issue was fixed very quickly. They would be able to isolate the issue. Whether it is the PC, USB ports, USB cable, the device itself. Just a thought.
