Quick update: the Thomann Tbox stereo mic works fine on line in. As expected I get a very low level signal; in our band rehearsal room with the mic placed centrally it peaked around -20db but that's not a problem. I just normalise (and compress) the signal a bit with software when I get the tracks on the computer. I guess in a loud concert this mic would work well. So, for anyone looking for a cheap stereo mic with battery box, this might be a solution.

Ok, thanks for the reply. I'll probably order one then. As for volume, I'll be recording right in the room so I can get as close as I like. I think it will be plenty loud enough. This is a guitar/bass/drums blues rock kind of band. I'm pretty sure the battery box is a single AA. Do you think 1.5v will give me enough headroom? For info, Thomann is the biggest on-line musical instrument/amp/etc outlet in Europe. I've bought loads of stuff from them over many years and they've always been top notch in all respects - so I have no hesitation in buying from them. Thanks again

Hello, I've got a Sharp MT270 (line in, no mic in) that I'd like to use to record my band rehearsals. I'm not worried about sound quality, these recordings are just for us, mostly as a reminder of what we were doing last time we rehearsed. I'll upload them on a pc and share the recordings as mp3's to the band members each week. I dont want to drag a lot of recording gear along to rehearsals, hence the idea to use the MD which I have, and I don't want to spend any money either However, I need a cheap mic that will record into the line-in on the MT270. I found this powered mic on Thomann's site. Would it work for me? Thomann stereo mic ... or would I need a preamp as well? I'm not sure if these powered mics actually amplify the signal or not. Thanks in advance for any help
