I know, the odd thing is that it's doing it with the Hold switch on, which means that it shouldn't be able to react to any other buttons being pressed. I leave the Hold swich on as a rule because otherwise the Play button can get depressed when I don't want it to, which uses up the battery. When recording on battery I make a rule of using a fully charged battery, so it shouldn't be that the battery's packing up. Maybe a loose connection somewhere? Or could it be that it reacts to the unit being moved at all while it's saving, and that kills the "Stop and save" command? Or maybe I switched off the remote mic (ECM-719) before hitting "Stop and save", would that corrupt the file in any way? Whoops, I replied the the wizard of oz before reading this one. Interesting. So if the power Regulator's mistakenly thinking that the battery's flat, it'll shut off? But on one recent occasion (since I started getting this problem) when I was recording with a flattening battery, the MZ-RH1 reached a point where it saved what it had been able to record and THEN shut down - whereas on other occasions it just shuts down without saving. Some fault in the saving mechanism maybe??? It doesn't happen all the time, just about 60% of the time - too high a failure rate for comfort, which is why I'm back with the MZ-NH900 until I figure this out.
