I don't read these forums everyday so forgive me if anything like this has been posted. I traded in my er-4p's last month for some pk1's for various reasons. The pk1's are just what I wanted; amazing sounding buds with the traditional earbud design. So comfortable and lightweight and really deliver when it comes to SQ. My reason for posting is that many reviewers swear that no matter what one's source is, not much (if anything) can drive these to their full potential without an amp. However with my rh1's volume @ 19/30 and no amp, these HP are driven pretty damn good by the rh1 alone. Has anyone tried this and think the rh1 has sufficient power? just curious to see.

I've read alot of people consider them ugly. For those who do, don't worry it looks like they have been completely replaced with the newer ones. Sucks for me though. Even though its about sound I own the blue ones and just think there too flashy. I thought about reformatting some 80 minute discs and trying out the latley supported 352kbps, which would be more affordable and should fit an average size cd per md (I know 256 is about 160 minutes, not sure about 352), but I was aiming to go lossless. Peppers coming to town woo hoo! I'm recording my 1st live show in a few days so, gotta have PCM for that.

thanks. that did filter my search alot better. few of many sites still have the old item code with the newer discs (since they were made to replace the older ones), but it was helpful.

does anyone know if and where i can get the 1st gen solid color HiMDs with the retro red border? I cant seem to find them ANYWHERE. even when i see a pic of one on a retail site its just an old pic representing the newer product that i don't want. just a cosmetic difference i know, but I only use Hi-MD and if all my md's must be the same color id rather it black/navy/red (whatever) than electric translucent blue. i don't care about the cases being oversized. any help would be appreciated. oh and i also live in the US.
