I need to play some Minidisc recordings made circa 2005. I do not know which model recorder was used to make the recordings, nor do I know what format the recordings are in. (The disc is the 74 minute type. It says 'Sony Recordable MD' on it.) I recently purchased a used MZ-E44 player. It won't play the recordings. (It can play the first few recordings on the disc just fine, but not the ones I need, which are later on the disc.) When I try to play them, the letters 'LP' show on the display; the timer ticks away like it's playing, but there is no sound. My guess is that the recordings I need on this disc were recorded in a format that this player is too primitive to handle. Does that sound right, folks? And if so, what specs should I look for in a used player, so that I can be confident it will be able to play them? Thanks for your help. Please pardon my near-total ignorance of Minidisc technology!
