Hi, I just registered on those forums and I seem to have run into a problem that isn't covered in the General FAQ, nor do I see the answer in one of the more recent threads of this subforum. I own a MDS-JB980 deck - this is a NetMD device with ATRAC3/LP capability. I would like to transfer a number of MP3s to MDs (I use 74 and 80 minutes variants). However, because the USB connector on the deck is difficult to access in its present position, and my desktop is far away, I haven't connected the deck itself so far (it would be quite a hassle). I could loan a portable MD player/recorder (MZ-NH700) from a colleague, which I thought could be used to record the disks as it can be linked to the PC easily. I used the OpenMG/NetMD program delivered with the JB980 to transfer my MP3s to Atrac3 format (.OMG). No problems here, but when I connected the NH700 it wouldn't recognise it no matter what I tried (the player was on, with a blank 80min MD in it). So, I decided to download SonicStage instead (version 4.3), and indeed, it recognised the player and I could record some 650MB worth of tracks (about 75) to the disc. The files were not reconverted from what OpenMG had done, only transferred to the HiMD device, so should still be in ATRAC3 format. The disc plays fine in the NH700. When I put it in the JB980 however, it tells me that this is a HiMD disc, and it sees only 2 tracks (which it can't read). I checked the options in Sonicstage, and I don't see an option to record in NetMD mode to a HiMD device - as soon as it recognizes that a HiMD is connected, it seems to switch to HiMD mode and you can't use a legacy mode for NetMD as far as I can see. I don't think I am actually using HiMD-only functionality on the recorded discs, bu nevertheless the JB980 refuses to read it. Is there a way to use the SonicStage 4.3/NH700 combo in such a way that the MD's it produces can be read by the JB980? Or can the NH700 be somehow be made to work with the older OpenMG software? I'm using Windows XP SP3. Thanks.
