Hey there! I'm new to the forums here but definitely not new to MDs. I bought my first MD - the Sony MZ-R700DPC - when it first came out back in... 2002ish? and I never looked back in terms of considering other serious portable music players. My R700 isn't broken and is, in fact, far from broken, but the fact of the matter is, it can only record in real-time as it uses the older optical in + digital converter method for data transferring from PC to MD and once the recording's on the disc... it's stuck there pretty much permanently with no way to export it back out. Delete, yes. Export? Nope. All of this is getting to be a bit of a pain to deal with and so I'm possibly in the market for a newer Sony USB-transfer MD recorder and player combo and that's why I'm posting here. Anyone have any suggestions for me to look into and could anyone give me a quick pros and cons list for MD vs Hi-MD? I've been reading and researching and reading some more, but I haven't really been able to figure out any particularly distinct pros or cons besides a much greater data storage capacity. Here are a few odds and ends about me that might make a difference: Here are some models that I have looked at over the years: - MZ-N1 - MZ-N410 - MZ-N707 - MZ-N10 - MZ-NF610 - MZ-NH1 - MZ-NH600 (not the D) Yes, they are all Sony but I have no problem considering another brand so long as people can give me honest reviews/opinions. I absolutely loved my R700 and the sound quality was nothing short of fantastic and the battery life was nothing short of incredible and so I have a bit of brand loyalty if only because I've had nothing but a great experience with my MD player (and other Sony devices like my Clie). So... please? Help? Please and thank you in advance!
