  1. Can't wait for 3D BRAVIA's end of 2010! :D

  2. To be honest, your best bet is to go to one of these petition websites and then send the link to everyone you know, and post it on other Audio PMP/Walkman websites to get more attention. If still no interest, maybe this is why Sony hasn't bothered putting gapless in the newer Walkman's? Personally, I want to see gapless in Sony's Walkman's, hence I voted that it is important, not only because I would most likely use it but the fact all the other players, but the fact even the dreaded iPod has it. That's not right, Sony! Your not going to let iPod have a audio feature you don't are you? (What an insult to the Walkman!) There's no point in really deleting this topic, as others will come eventually and post they're views.
  3. Things I really want to see via firmware update if possible, is to make the internet connectivity more easier to get rid of that horrid mobile phone-style numeric keypad and maybe gapless playback. Otherwise the Walkman is fine to me, I do look forward to the next X-series in the future that may have Symbian OS on it, perhaps then Sony can hit this PMP applications market with that.
  4. Personally I think it looks quite nice, it's a new direction for Walkman. It does feel it's aiming for teenagers who want to put they're music on while annoyingly on public transport, if the in-built speakers are that good, I'm sure that's why they will sell well. lol...
  5. Very smart! Invision 3 is much better to use and in looks. Nice one Chris!

    Vaio P SLOW?

Like I had said, its Windows Vista being a hog to the hardware, leaving none left for software for some programs. The easiest thing for you to do is to upgrade to Windows 7 in October, Sony are going a update program right now where you can get Windows 7 for free (just the P&P fee) just make sure you have registered your VAIO online with Sony and they will email you asking if you wish to upgrade to Windows 7 in October. http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/10/vaio-p-...more-windows-7/ This article shows how much better the P-Series performs running on beta Windows 7. http://club.vaio.sony.eu/clubvaio/GB/en/windows7/index.htm - European site for the Windows 7 VAIO upgrade program. Hope this helps.

It's funny that it's always in the Audio part of the forum... (Most active I guess) I'm trying my best, my shift work and other real life means makes it so that it's harder for me to get there before someone else etc. Going to get myself some 3G contract internet for my TZ VAIO so I can acess the forums quicker and easier when away from home.
  8. Is this possible to do? You would have to somehow acess the Walkman's internal ROM and get a clean Japanese version of the Walkman's firmware to use aswell...
  9. Okay, I think it's about time I should clean some information up regarding to X-series stock... The UK has been allocated with apporx. 2,800 units that have come directly from Japan to the UK - hence the low allocation. Only 350 of those units have been split between the top Sony Centre stores (mind you, there are around 140 Sony Centre stores, so that's not much at all) and John Lewis Oxford Street store got 100 units for them alone and another 100 or so have gone to their online store. The rest went to SonyStyle.co.uk; all pre-orders have been filled on there and now showing both the 16GB and 32GB models out of stock. Link: https://www.sonystyle.co.uk/SonyStyle/MP3-W...o/NWZX1060B.CE7 it was seriously a first-come-first serve basis. The OFFICIAL UK launch of the X-series was this Monday (11th!), believe it or not! Sony UK expects to get around 15,000 units in the upcoming weeks when the European dispatch comes in. At the moment the small about that is on sale was sent directly from Japan, which doesn't normally happen, but i'm guessing Sony wanted to release it faster than they wanted. I forgot to add; next Tuesday...We are getting only THREE X-series for our store. (Unfair!) And all will be for demo purposes too, seeing as 3 is not really worth sell all, it’s better to at least have some to show to people who are interested in it... So, it seems to be of high interest and seems to be selling well. Hail to X-series! Oh and big congrats to Juli for owning one of the first UK model X-series!
  10. I care, lol. Great links, I keep forgetting to look on the HK site, as i'm always looking on the Japanese version instead so I miss out on seeing these. Cheers!
  11. AHH, I love Sony Style! That should mean Thursday this week or on the Tuesday we will get it (our delivery days) We're throwing a Walkman launch party on the day for it too, and I get to own one for free! (For demo purposes of course) Still waiting for my Japanese one to arrive... *Customs are hunting me*
  12. Yeah, and as they're linked, so has the estimate date changed from "mid/end-May" to "end-May" on our store site - https://www.sonystyle.co.uk/SonyStyle/MP3-W...o/NWZX1060B.CE7 So last week of May it is then!
  13. Maybe... But then if you mean the main exterior shells and not a thing to go over it – If you do buy some, you will void your Sony warranty for one thing and secondly would be risky taking it apart without messing something up…Unless you’re good at that sort of thing. lol Still not got them in-store yet, odd as we normally get them before anyone else… I’m excited to get my hands on a final product version and try out that web browser! I'm 98% sure it will be out in the UK by the end of this month, at least, via www.sonystyle.co.uk anyway, as we are still got the 'end-May' on them both. Sony Style doesn't normally give out persific dates on their product releases, it's always been "end, mid or early' and then the month and it's not normal for them to be wrong, although I’m not saying it doesn't happen as it has happened on one or two things in the past... lol. I have this feeling they defiantly will be out by the end of this month anyway, I’ll kick myself if my feeling is wrong... lol! Yeah I know the feeling; I would really want it too. I'm use to the Japanese menus for a long time now, but would make my life a lot easier and I’m sure a lot of others out there would also agree doing what I do just to keep my ATRAC/SonicStage library going for future Walkmans... It's odd as I use to import Japanese NWZ series even when English Walkmans where supporting ATRAC/SonicStage (because they normally make colours we don’t see made over here) but those ones had all other European language support on them so you could change the menu to most main languages of the world. I guess they stopped doing that as there was no need to translate seeing now that the American/European Walkmans are different hardware-wise as well now. 3 and 3/4 weeks to go 'till release… lol
  14. It depends, I've not heard this has been done on the internet, I don't think even Sony will do it. But I guess, as with everything (like mobile phones) if you have the right techie knowledge to get the USB to recognize the ROM of the Walkman and have a copy of the ROM of the English X-series Walkman, it maybe possible. I don't see the benefit of this as I think if you did do it and worked - the ROM would most likely tell the Walkman that it doesn't understand ATRAC, and would turn it into a drag-in-drop Walkman. I guess the only benefit is to have a different colour Walkman in English. But the Ice Black X-series has the built in TV-tuner as well, that would also be lost as the ROM is the one that talks to the hardware, I'm guessing without the right ROM the hardware won’t work so you will loose features of the Walkman, and end up paying a lot of money for nothing. I'm getting too excited, I need to get and order my X-series! http://katzho.blog.so-net.ne.jp/_images/bl...20082-1c093.jpg - This picture made me laugh, seeing the Apple Mac/iPhone/Touch wallpaper in the background. lol And yeah, as always the box is very nicely done indeed, this always seems to be the case in Japan, when it comes to the US/EU box art… it's not normally quite as nice. lol EDIT: I found these pictures of the front and back of the Ice Black X-series: Sorry for late reply too and getting back to deleting that advertising crap on the boards - all done now though. Regards, Shanie.
  15. Sony Japan left it late to announce it, and so near it's release. But I love the sexy ice black one, that will be the one I'll get... I knew Sony Japan would make different colors available for launch! I also love the Japanese case CKL-NWX1000 shown in the Japanese press release, much better than the one I said about that we are getting.

    Vaio P SLOW?

Well going by your specs on your current PC, the P series should run faster. The P series is faster than netbooks, and can handle a couple of windows a the same time. The P series has been tested on Windows 7 (beta) and boots up in a minute appose to the 2.80 min on Windows Vista and runs much faster and can have more programs running at one time. You could also downgrade to Windows XP if need be, but when Windows 7's full release comes out, (September) it would be a good thing to install that instead if you wish it to run faster. Hope this helps.
  17. Seeing for the past 4 years of me importing Japanese Walkmans I’m well aware of this - and have been use to the Japanese SonicStage and Walkman menus for a while now - so this is no problem for me. lol Please, come work with us then! lol Save Sony! lol My store is now taking pre-orders on it - https://www.sonystyle.co.uk/SonyStyle/MP3-W...o/NWZX1060B.CE7 It's shipped ‘end-May’, and it does say it has a web browser on both 16GB and 32GB models. I recon we will get them in early as we seem to do with most products, so I should be playing with one again beginning of May! I'm excited lol! I Hope Sony Japan talk about releaseing theirs soon!
  18. There will be a new P series coming...It's is certain, and will be here in September.
  19. Not too sure where you are from (the fact you said PC World I’m guessing UK!) in the UK, the current new model CS-series model is 21. (VGN-CS21Z for example) they are a couple of weeks old and have introduced the new colour purple and the only one to have Blu-Ray is the Black model, unlike before was the Red and Brown models. The new 21 model’s also all have a 2.00ghz processor instead of the 2.26ghz that was on the pervious 19 CS model. I think the CS series might be phrasing out by the end of the year to make way for a new C series or not get rid of the series altogether. It's a shame as the CS series has been a lovely VAIO. The 7600 256MB is slightly better in performance than the 9300 128MB, not just by the fact it has more GDDR3 RAM but a 600 series is usually better than a 300. But it might not support DirectX10 and a few other features that nVidia introduced later in the year. It is proberly better suited for Windows Vista. Hope this helps, Regards, Shanie.
  20. Should well do both - this is the reason I'm most excited about the X-series that, and the fact I love the whole idea of one of the world's first colour OLED's in my pocket. One thing that worries me is the fact Sony Japan hasn't hyped it up at all yet, even their S-series was more hyped than this... Which is odd, and I need Japanese model too. Sony has been putting built-in digital noise cancelling in quite a few of their devices, nearly all the past 4 years of Japanese Walkmans have done. My gold NW-A829 has it and I personally think it’s a seriously great idea, as when you’re travelling, we all want clear music without any bus, train or plane noses in the background ruin it! Being digital is even better too, and doesn't make you carry AAA batteries around and the box that you have to connect your headphones to... This is really a great feature and like you said - Sony really should market this now Sony is putting it in the European models. The reason I want a Japanese X-series is because I love ATRAC 352kbps and my whole music collection is stored on it. Some people (once again, this is coming from customers point of view that I’ve experienced) really love SonicStage and are upset Sony got rid of it, where as others prefer the fact they resorted to simple drag n’ drop… I agree with the whole Sony Centre staff thing; they are franchisees which don't help and each one is run by a different company signed by Sony to maintain the stores. They do get training from Sony HQ within Weybridge, but it's up to them if they take it all in, if they're really interested they will, otherwise if just for the money they won’t - I've seen them there. Our store is the first to be owned by Sony UK Ltd. (Hence, called Sony Style and not 'Sony Centre') themselves, so it's not a franchise, only we get less training from Sony Weybridge (sadly due to having shifts) As I know a lot in-depth on the products personally, I do teach the others little things like that the P-series VAIO has in-built digital noise cancelling (talking on that subject, lol) that none of the other staff seem to know about. None of them have a passion for the brand either, and you can see it when they try and sell to people. Customers come into the store demanding for help on their product, which I am the only person can sort out - no matter how old the Sony product is. Customers ask other questions that they expect us to know (SonicStage related to name one of a few, the other staff would not even know what SonicStage is…) that always gets pointed back to me to answer for them as one of the other staff know. The thing is; people see the Sony stores more than just a retail outlet, they see it as a help centre as well, and if they don’t get it (usually the case in UK) they walk away not impressed and reflects back on Sony, the company itself looking bad. That’s the problem with having dedicated company stores. It's just a shame you can’t just grab a load of people around the world who really love the brand itself along with the products to get a fantastic customer-service store and some really great marketing going along side it.
  21. I understand that these days everyone would want one device that does the whole lot, and the iTouch does this very well, but at the end of the day in Sony's eyes is, the Walkman is a high-quality sound device to have your music on the go and at the same quality or if not better than you would be from playing from a CD player without carrying your CD’s around. How I always see it - a stand alone camera will take better photos than any camera on mobile phone on the market (forget mega pixels it’s all about the lens and CDD/CMOS censors) same goes with most portable electronic devices out there. If the X-series Walkman has a browser or not - the sound quality (and video quality being OLED…) is there and that's what it's built for. I think Sony is adding these more 'gimmicky' features in to attract past iPod customers. Although, sadly, I think Sony have a long way to go if they wish to beat that market now... But It's not all to do with great sounding music when the majority of people out there today don’t care about kbps rates and CD quality and that's where iPod wins. There's also the issue with Sony using SSD drives in heir Walkmans, (hence higher price for less memory space) so I get a lot of "Why don't Sony do bigger than 16GB (forgetting X-series) and Apple do 320GB??" There’s a lot of people out there not knowing the benefit of SSD; using less battery, more secure from drops and falls and loads your music faster, and I see that people will always want there whole music collection on the go and not just there favourite albums… Although I’m finding that more and more people are turning back to Walkman just because they're fed up that everyone now owns an iPod, people are looking for something different, (from customers point of view that I deal with) and surprisingly not necessarily with better sound quality… That and the fact Apple are not really progressing forward with their iPod, the sound quality as far as I know has stayed the same since the first iPod in 2003, unlike Sony have done with each new release of a Walkman, but Apple likes add the likes of a browser/WiFi features and new colours and smaller sizes of players to keep people interested. And this is working… To be honest, It boils down to two things - If you love your music you would go with the Walkman. If you love one thing to do all, regardless to quality then get the iTouch/Pod We will soon see what happens to the X-series Walkman... Seeing as more of the reviewing press are getting their hands on it. Sadly, i've not heard any new news on it since what i've said. And seriously Sony need to do a good marketing campaign like Apple did back in 2003, to get this off a good start, and maybe the X-series will be a start new gen of Walkmans to come.
  22. Hmm, considering the ones I saw didn't, and I haven't heard of the NWZ-X1060 and 62... (Ours is X1020 I think, but maybe it's also something to do with region) but the fact it say's about a NetFront browser, maybe your right, Javi! Then I hope my Japanese one will have it... Maybe the UK ones I saw where different non-browser versions? The ones I saw had a serial number 'NWZ-XXXX' ...lol (Prototypes, i'm guessing) so I couldn't tell what model they where. That would also explain the price difference, like you said. Also it's funny that they didn't motion/show it in that video, only what I told you before hand. Very Interesting... Most talked about Walkman ever? I hope some more news comes out to short this out. lol
  23. LOL I thought it was thinner, that was just me saying that, not from SonyStyle - As when I saws that picture on here with the X-series stacked up it looks (and the iTouch has a 'curved back' which rises it up when put on a table - it looked about the same thickness. My bad, haha.
