I tried two regular hard drive, they both worked; no need to load any system files, or any thing. I guess, Samsung SSD is different.

You can get battery from ebay. Some Chinese dealers have it for about $15, just do a search for NW-A1000. The battery replacement instruction is in the original manual, you can download one from Sony.

Have anyone changed hard drive in VGF-AP1? I opened it, it says Toshiba MK4004GAH. I have a Samsung SSD (formatted FAT32), so I tried; the player stayed on at white screen. What else should I do now? By the way, the firmware is 3.0.0.C171f Thank you.
