  1. Hi everyone, I am new to the forum and have a problem with a Sony Vaio Notebook's sound after updating with Windows Update. My brother bought this notebook only a couple of months ago, and said that he updated it, and then the sound just wasn't there after that. Model # PCG-71315L (VPCEB46FD), Windows 7 x64. Now I am quite computer savvy, and have tried several things to try and fix this problem. The funny thing is, the sound IS working because the equalizer is going up and down when I play music or videos, but still no sound to be heard! I have tried downloading drivers and installing them, I have tried running an antivirus scan (Malware Bytes included), ChkDsk, testing it (the sound), checking the equalizer to see if something was muted, fiddling with the sound properties, ect to no avail! System restore will not work because it keeps saying that my antivirus Bitdefender Total Security 2011 is preventing me from doing it. It says "System Restore could not access a file. This is probably because and antivirus program is running on the computer. Temporarily disable your antivirus program and retry System Restore. An unspecified error occurred during System Restore. (0x80070005) You can try System Restore again and choose a different restore point. If you continue to see this error, you can try an advanced recovery method." I disabled the antivirus it before trying System Restore and trying various restore points and it STILL wouldn't work! I am at my wits end! Does anyone have a solution to the headache of a problem? Any advice would be much appreciated! Thank you for taking the time to read this!
