Tried that and nothing... If you turn on the unit on in a dark room, you can just make out red horizontal lines running across the display, when you drop the unit into standby they go away. Then come on again once unit is powered up. Didnt notice that before.

Just went to turn on my MD deck (it's been in standby for years) and the display is not coming on, the deck works fine apart from no display. Any ideas? Any ideas if Sony would even have parts for this and what sort of price it might cost? Could it be cheaper to get another used unit? Thanks
