  1. Hi there The AAC files I have made with dBpoweramp work ok on my NWZ-A816. I use the batch converter to convert flac files from my external hard drive to VBR q0.65 AAC files. They have the M4A extension and play fine. The only other thing worth mentioning is that I don not use the latest Nero codec, as there have been some compatibility issues with later ones. I have version 1.0.7.0 which I think is the March 2007 version. Hope that's some help. Peter
  2. Have a look here cheers Peter
  3. It depends - who do you pay the DDR to? On the warranty documentation, what company is providing the warranty? Cheers Peter
  4. I believe that the only thing you can do is: Buy the trackMake an Audio CD using iTunesRip the CD with SonicStageTransfer the ripped track to your player using SonicStageWhilst this process gets the file onto your player, it does involve re-encoding an already encoded source. Unfortunately, the DRM on files downloaded from iTunes means that they can't be played on non-iPods.
  5. There seem to be two official Sony cases (available in the UK at least): 1) The leather option 2) The clear option Cheers Peter
  6. Well, I went for the silver, as did my son. Both the Silver and Black versions are available for £49.99 from Argos - half their usual price. Cheers Peter
  7. If I want to put (say) 132kbps files onto the NW-E005, would SonicStage make these from the full lossless file or just the 352kbps bit of the file? On all but the latest Hi-MD player, MP3 playback has been "crippled" by having the high frequencies deliberately rolled off on playback. Just downloaded the manual for the NW-E005 and it refers to playback times for 352kbps files, so I guess it does them. Thanks everyone for the answers. Peter
  8. I'm thinking about getting either a black or silver NW-E005. Is either colour more durable (eg less prone to scratching) or perhaps more desireable? Thanks Peter
  9. Hi all I'm new to this neck of the woods, altough I have been using Minidiscs for a number of years and occassionally post on that forum. I've been using Atrac Lossless 352kbps, as it suits my needs admirably. I listen to the resultant 352KBPS on my Hi-MD players and am very happy with the results. I am thinking of getting an NW-E005 for occassional ultra-portable use and was wondering whether: it is possible to play 352kbps atrac files on the NW-005it would be worthwhile getting SonicStage to convert my lossless files to a lower bitrate for use on the NW-005I should simply stick to lower bitrate MP3's on the NW-005. If so, is the playback of MP3s "crippled" like it is on the 2nd generation Hi-MD units?Any thoughts would be most welcome. Cheers Peter
