Just plugged it in and off I went. Problem was that I'd often get transfer failures - especially long tracks. Anyway had another problem so decided to reinitialise the hard drive which solved this and the transfer problems. Strange. But thought I'd mention it in case anyone else just "plug-and-played" without initialising the hard drive is also getting transfer problems.
