I have a Sony MXD-D3 player. Does anyone know if the digital input is 16bit,20bit or 24bit? I currently have a USB to 16bit toslink device connected to my laptop. I recorded directly to the toslink of the Minidisc deck with the 16bit USB device. I have also recoreded with a 24 bit DAC connected to my laptop and connected to the analog input of the minidisc deck. I believe the analog recording has slightly more seperation and a slightly bigger soundstage. I want the best recording that my unit is capable of and was thinking of purchasing a 24bit USB to toslink adapter. however I am not sure what the maximum digital input my Sony MXD-D3 is capable of. Also will I hear a difference in digital recordings from the 16bit USB toslink adapter compared to a 24bit USB toslink adapter.
