I'm an avid Sony fan and have been for years....I have always used Sony's products in the home and on the move via Mini Disc MZ N10. Husband decided it was time for an over due upgrade, I didn't like his iPod so I stuck with the long awaited S series, I even tried to purchase in Australia in Oct 2006! I received a NW S205F in the uk for Christmas and I have only just been able to transfer some music onto it...I was so delighted with it at the beginning, but now, I have seriously changed my mind. I am in desperate need of help with getting Sonic Stage running efficiently on my PC which again is brand new. Currently have Windows XP SP2 RAM 2MB Hard drive 250 Gb Dell I have SS version 4.2 My computer was bought last week.... I have done all the MDAC tests, it all shows up with no Exemption files, even though it shouldn't do if it's new, I have run the MDAC file search on my pc, cannot find and because it's brand new I'm not sure about messing about with it at this stage. I have spent 4 hours on your web site reading all the threads relevant to MOST of your content on SS... Before my new PC arrived, I had problems with SS 4.2 version....I think it may be related to the MS updates that had occured just before the problems began. Basically the problem is my PC is extremely slow, I have 265 GB free disk space in my SS library, my CPU usage is not even worth mentioning it's so low, so I seriously don't know what the problem can be. Would I be better off using an older SS version? I will have to read up on previous threads on how to uninstall this current version and install an older version though I do disagree I should do this when everything I'm using is brand new and the latest. Why can't I use the latest? and where could I get an older version as the SS site would only have the newest version. I am really stuck and it's a shame as the quality of music is like no other! iPOD is most definitely easier to use, but the music quality is awful in comparison! PLEASE HELP! I really don't want to take this excellent bit of kit back to the shop but if I cannot use it.....I don't have much choice. what do you suggest?
