Hi someone said that the battery charger is the way to recover battery function.Isnt the battery charger a sealed unit?

Hi, I haven't used my mini disk in a few years,and it seems to be working but i am not able to charge the battery.The new ac adapter is working but when i put the mini disk on the charging dock nothing happens.The mini disk works when in the charging dock but its not showing on the screen that its charging.I pressed the charging button on the mini disk a few times and took it off the dock and put it back on also but still not working.When i purchased the ac adapter at sony here in india i took the batteries with me to have checked and they said they were not charged.I remember when i used the mini disk last a few years back that the charging button would sometimes not work.Im wondering if its something i can fix or should i bring to sony repair. Yes i am in India and just purchased a ac adapter for my mz nh900.I got this mini disk in the US.The volts are 100-240v on the new adapte.Does this mean that it is a universal unit and i can use with my mz nh900.The part number is ac-ES3010k2.My original was ac-ES3010k.The plug for the outlet is correct for Indian electricity,which is 220v.Thats why I'm asking this question.Thanks everyone Ala
