Some of the cds I have tried importing with CONNECT Player are enchanced albums with 'hidden' material accessable when inserted into a computer drive. On CONNECT Player, where I would normally see the track listing under what would normally be the album title, I see instead D"data cd". Is there any way I can import such cds with CONNECT or will I have to resort to importing them as MP3s from another software? Thx in advance

was reading an article on ilounge saying how crap atrac and SONY devices were, and they posted a link to this site out of mockery. And then I sold my iPod and bought an A3000. Funny how things turn out.....

MP3........and what do you mean this is DRM? How does it restrict me in any way?
-
Having left all original copies of my music overseas, I was not eager to update my A3000's firmware after Sony's not so encouraging disclaimer. I opened my walkman as an external drive and to my surprise, after a bit of searching I discovered all my music was on there under OMGAUDIO. The music files are named with numbers but when imported into CONNECT displayed all my original tags. They are certainly playable. Am I the first one to discover this and could there possibly be any unwanted trouble from doing this?

hmm.....well is there any way of solving this problem?

My spanking new nwa3000b just arrived from Hong Kong yesterday after I landed it on eBay and the no matter how many photos you've seen of it, nothing does it justice like physically holding an A3000 you own. Granted CONNECT player isn't exactly the best but it's only a tad slower than iTunes so my experience with it has been positive so far. That is, until I start ripping my own CD's as all my current music sorting has been transferring mp3s. Which brings me to the point of this post: listening to the sample songs in the player, the quality is pretty decent but listening to 160 kbps mp3s, what is supposed to be silence during songs is instead hissing white noise. Does this happen with ATRAC files as well or is it just my dodgy mp3s or all mp3s or what??

well that's a kick in the 'nads....is there no player-to-pc music transfer software for sony devices like copypod for the ipod?

I read somewhere (sorry I can't be more specific as to where) that once sonic stage is installed on a computer and is used with a walkman device, the walkman can't be used with any other computer with sonic stage without all the music on it being deleted. Whether or not that is true, does it occur with Connect player and the new A series walkmans?

What happened to "old school cool"?

lol why would you want something bulky?

Thanks Leon. As an ex-ipod user you reminded me of why I wanted to get a Sony in the first place. Seeing as the VAIO is discontinued, has no accessories (almost none), and is physically inferior, I'm opting for the HD5.you will soon see "NW-HD5" under my profile. t hanks for all your help

Just wanted to see which one is more prefered. Seriously though, I can't decide which one to get. The HD5 is smaller and has a longer battery life but quite frankly it looks kinda plain..... (to me, anyway) And as for the VAIO Pocket, it is bigger and has less battery life than its walkman counterpart but looks oh-so-cool.... Thanks for your time.

Having served three years in the iPod Insurgency, I now feel some primal urge to return to Sony. (my first music player ever was an AIWA walkman) But as iyareu pointed out, the new ipod with video is, quite frankly, technologically advanced to what Sony's offering (gapless aside). So as a fresh recruit to Squadron Sony all ready for indoctrination, should I get a VAIO Pocket, wait for the new NW-A3000, or wait even longer and hope that Sony makes a colour-screend, ultra-thin HD player??
