Hello again. I was wondering if anyone here has compared the sound quality of the PRO E12 deck to other high-end decks? Since the E12 is only 20bit and has no optical in or out, and most decks after JE-630 have 24bit w/OPT in and out. How does the E12 sound hold up to these other decks? Thanks, dw

Hello - New to posting on this forum, but a minidisc user for years. Anyway, I haven't been too active the past 4 years or so on my system, which includes the 940. I see the 940s have skyrocketed in value. I thought I would pick up a 2nd unit as a backup because I believe mine is having an issue with the drive unit. Its glitchy. Given the increased prices for another unit I thought with another lesser unit I might be able to swap out the whole drive carriage. I have a JE-630 stuck in storage as a backup. it doesn't sound as good as the 940 and doesn't have MDLP. I thought id sacrifice the 630 for parts. To my surprise, the drive is totally different. Are there other decks that have the identical drive as the 940? If so, are the electronics, boards and laser identical? ..the ribbon connectors the same? thanks a bunch for the insight! dave w
