Thank you for the replies. Confirmed that this is a format problem. Was trying to play Minidiscs that were made on a NetMD player and are in LP2 format. Should have done a bit more home work before purchase. Live and Learn.

I just purchased a Sony MDS-JE500 minidisc player. The disc loads, reads the TOC, displays the song title and starts counting the play time. However, there is no audio. I tried the RCA outputs, optical, and the headphone jack. No readings appear of the digital VU meter either. Does anyone have any experience with this sort of problem?
