I stumbled accross this site and bought a battery for my HD3 (the HD1 battery is the same, as this forum says). It came from hong Kong in a couple of days. £8.60 all in!! I've not fitted it yet though!! http://www.theanythingshop.com/battery-son...81c5a7653df4c56

I agree with you in that respect, whilst the software was evolving in a good way, the hardware seemed to be backwards (cheaper?), making smaller ard drives, with what appears to be smaller memory buffers. Imagine what could have been living alongside the a818 etc. By the same level of progression what could the nw-hd7 or 9 been? 160gb HDD, 50 hr batteries, smaller all metal (magnesium again??) bodies. Don't get me wrong, I like the look and feel of the a1200,I bought one! I just think it could have been so much better.

I've just purchased a NW3 second hand from amazon, for £50 it seemed like a lot of GB for my money. I was after a hd5 really but the prices are still quite high. I already own a A1200 and was never impressed with the battery life, nor the disc access speeds which make it painfully slow just looking through the song list! The 1200 now lives in my car where it performs great coupled to the sony stereo with walknan control. Day to day duties are now performed by the 808, which is faultless in every respect, except that it is full!! Enter the HD3, an extra 10ish GB to play with, WOW! I wasn't expecting the speed which this accesses tracks, its almost the same speed as flash drives. I'm also equally impressed with the build quality. It feels like its built from solid billet. OK the search functions are not as good, no ratings, time machine etc, but it's still a fantastic player, the speed it scrolls through the song lists mean you can find any track in the library in seconds. After copying my entire library to it, and it had fully charged I started it playing at mid volume, all songs ripped at 132 atracplus, and started the stopwatch..................26hrs!! A similar experiment on the A1200 gave just 13. I know it isn't real life usage but it gave me an idea of the condition of the battery. All in all I am very impressed with the HD3. Why couldn't sony have continued this line of players instead of stepping backwards(IMO) with the A series (hdd). I'll still be on the lookout for a 30 gig hd5, now that I'm hooked.

Hi, I had the same problem, The easiest way I have found to do it is after you've gotten the cd info, and no picture has popped up, go to amazon and type in the name of the album, when the album comes up on amazon simply drag and drop the image into the little square where the artwork should go in sonic stage. If you reduce the window on the browser you can browse amazon while still on the sonic stage desk top. It works for me every time.

Hi, I have a CDX-GT414 car stereo, and I can connect my nw a1200 to if via the front mounted USB socket using the std USB lead supplied with the walkman. This allows me to access the walkman via the controls on the car stereo. It also displays the track info, and charges the walkman at the same time!! I can also burn atrac (or MP3 WMA etc) cd's and play them via the cd slot. Another option is to connect via the 3.5mm phono jack, but this obviously limits the remote control function. The stereo sounds great and in plenty loud enough (4x50w). It cost me £75 brand new form a well known internet auction site. The only thingt missing is the abiity to connect it to the steering wheel controls.

I thouught it might have been to much to wish for. Never mind, I'll add the leads to my ever growing pile of proprietory cables. Why cant manufacturer's stick to standard usb leads A & B. I have a sony camera with a lead that looks like a wiring harness from a car!!

People seem to forget that a lot of the functionality that they like about the walkmans (walkmen??), artist link, search by genre, time machine shuffle etc, all stem from SS. I have imported mp3 albums given to me by friends, clicked on "cd info" and gotten all the extra stuff like release dates etc and even the cover art. It just takes a little time to learn how to use it. Who could use microsoft exel etc without any tuition?? This functionality just would not happen with "drag and drop".

Is the port on the NWA1200 a WM-PORT??

Hi, Does anyone know whether the NW808 and the BCRNWU3 cadle are compatible?? sony says; Compatible with the following WALKMAN models: NW-S603, NW-S605, NW-S703F, NW-S705F, NW-S706F. but that was last updated in november 06. Cheers

Is it only me , or do I have an abnormal version of sonicstage? I have used it since version 2.0 without fault or hinderance. I feel left out, why does it always have to be me???

I also own a 1200, The best I've ever had is about 9 hrs, at 132 atrac3, no screensaver, new song pop up off, no eq, and no skipping etc just letting it play. In reality 6 hrs is about the beat it can manage. I hoped it woiuld imrove with a few charge cycles but it never did. I think the only solution is to pension it off and buy a nwa808. Shame really as apart from the battery the nw a1200 rocks.

The line out still uses the same phones out jack but is a high output, way too loud for the headphones, but just the right level for external amps, so that you don't need to have the volume really high on the amp and get hissing in quiet parts. The volume button on the walkman is disabled.

Thanks for that, just looked on a certain internet site that shares it's name with a big river, it looks quite good especially if it comes with an ac adaptor. I assume it does fit the 808, the picture looks like it has a removable inner section, but the sony site says ; Compatible with the following WALKMAN models: NW-S603, NW-S605, NW-S703F, NW-S705F, NW-S706F. Have you got one? How do you connect to a hi fi from the cradle?
-
You need to select the line out function from the menu on the nwa1200 too, then use a 3.5mm headphone to din plug adaptor lead to connect to any hi fi aux in. Don't forget to change this back before you plug the headphones back in, because it is VERY LOUD!! (ask me how I know!). I was hoping for something similar on the 808 to save buying more "accessories".

Hi everyone, I'm new to the site, but have read stuff from it for a while now. I am seriously considering retiring my trusty NW-A1200 for something whith a somewhat better battery life (averaging about 9 hrs, falling far short of the claimed 20hrs. I always hoped it would improve with a few charge cycles but it never did!) The NW-808 seems to be the obvious choice I'm just can't find out anywhere whether it has a line out option like the 1200, I use this quite a lot to connect to my hi-fi and think it is a great feature. Also could any owners out there let me know the average battery battery life times they are getting my libary is ripped at 132k ATRAC3. Thanks in advance.
