  1. Well here's my update. I decided to send my sony walkman back due to being very hacked off with sony and connect. I'm just about to buy a new ipod video. Been using itunes and its so much easier. There are also so many more accessories available. The only problem i've got now is trying to convert my libarary of atrac music into mp3.......... having looked on internet it seems this isnt possible. So gonna start ripping cds over again. I thought i'd abandon sony as having problems now and no guarantee or confidence that there wont be problems in the future. Its a shame coz i really liked the look of the sony. Never mind. Thanks for your help.
  2. Hi, Here's some further info about this problem. The error report produced by windows cites the following files as having errors when trying to launch: WER099a.dir00\CPlayer.exe.mdmp WER099a.dir\00\appcompat.txt Obviously ive got no idea what this means or even if its relevant. From some of your replies it sounds as tho they've shipped the software before its ready and i'll have to wait to be issued with new software. Can i use any other software with this Walkman? I look forward to your comments
  3. Hi, Im having trouble getting Connect to launch. I've installed as you have suggested below, but when i click on the Configset.exe nothing happens? What is it supposed to do? When i try to launch connect it hangs at the opening purple dialog box. cheers
  4. Thanks for getting back to me. I've tried all of these suggestions and still it persists. The longest i've waited is about 5 hours!! Its strange as i had it running and working with absolutely no probs then it crashes and will not work again. I restored settings to 1st november using windows xp but the same thing happens. I'm operating an AMD Sempron 2800+ processor with 512mb memory. So it shouldn't be a case of slow PC. I just don't know what else to do except take it back and get an evil ipod. I can't even get the update to run. Keeps saying that the 'target software isn't installed'. When it is. Any more ideas? I've wasted my whole weekend installing, uninstalling, booting rebooting..... I've mailed Sony, but the customer suport only operates office hours so wont get chance to speak to them. Your my only hope with this. I've managed to transfer a few songs onto the player from my old sonicstage but most of them it wont transfer because of rights information or something like that.
  5. Hello, I'm new and have basic computer knowledge so bear with me on this..... I recently bought NW-A3000, installed the CONNECT software and happily started to use it. Halfway through importing my Sonicstage library into Connect it stopped working. Stalled. I Ctrl-Alt-Del out of it and procedded to try and load it again. Nothing happened. I have now uninstalled reinstalled hundreds of times and all that happens is i double click on the Connect icon, it begins to launch it and then just hangs when the small purple box appears saying Sony Connect. It does not respond. This happens every single time. Despite having uninstalled reinstalled done disk cleanup, defrag. It just wont work. I have also downloaded the update from the sonydigital website extracted the files and installed it that way but the same thing happens. It wont allow me to run the auto update saying that' the source software isnt present' or something like that. Despite the fact that it is present! Any help would be great, its driving me insane. Is there something on my system preventing me from ever using this software or am i missing a file in windows? Thanks for reading this and i hope someone can help.
