  1. Hello Have any of you got the auto update or even the "check for updates" on the player to work? I am the only user and administrator on my PC (I have checked to make sure) so it is not that I don't have permission and I was logged in as administrator when I installed CP. To get the latest update, I had to uninstall the player completely from the PC then re-install it - the sony website does not give option of manual download but when I click on check for updates absolutely nothing happens - no pop up box, error message...nothing at all! Auto updates are set to detect and install themselves but this obviosly doesn't happen, as it didn't notice the latest one. Any ideas?
  2. I think what he means (and I checked on mine last night) is that once tou have disconnected the Walkman from the computer and even restarted the computer and Connect Player - if you then click on the NWA3000 (or 1000) on left hand side (with the Walkman still disconnected) it still shows all tracks on the Walkman in faint writing. The problem here seems to be that it displays what you had on one Walkman but if you have two it will not recognise the other one. If you select the faint track and edit/remove it doesnt remove it from view but says "ready to delete" so next time you connect the Walkman, it deletes the track from it. The issue is not trying to delete it from the computer but how to make the Connect player forget what is on the first Walkman when disconnected and recognise the 2nd one. Any ideas?
  3. You're not wrong - Send me the money & I'll buy a new one! Otherwise I'll have to see what Father Christms brings me.
  4. When you start up Connect for the first time - you get two options: one states that changes made on the Connect Player will be mirrored on the device and the other is manual, so if you delete from the Connect it doesn't affect what is on the device. Which did you choose?
  5. Interesting - my daughter wants a A1000 & we only have one computer so I may have same problem. Does this still happen if you close and re-open Connect Player between disconnecting one and connecting to other? I notice that when you disconnect the player, the songs on the right appear in very light type then when you have restarted Connect, they are not there at all (I dont think?)
  6. Pentium III 450 processor, 360mb ram, 16x cd - old Dell computer with about 1.7gb space on hard drive. Incidentally, I have 2 hard drives, the C is 9gb with about 1.7gb space and the D is 6gb with about 4gb space, so due to more space, I originally loaded the Connect software to the D drive in a folder I named Connect Player but it would not then accept the update from Sony website. I uninstalled and reinstalled to the default they give you (C:\program files\sony\connect player - I think) and the update downloaded first time to that.
  7. I received my new a3000 yesterday. A fabulous looking silver one - the pictures on Amazon & Sony sites don't do it justice. The software loaded easily and automatically updated to the newest version. It all works but is a bit slow to start up and respond. To rip tracks from CD album is very...very...very slow. This, and the slowness of the startup etc may be due to my ancient computer (Pentium III 450 and 360MB Ram). It takes about half an hour to rip one album. Having said that, with only USB 1 and player on a hub, it takes less than a minute to transfer album to player. This is my first ever device of this kind and I am not disappointed but can see many hours ahead transferring my CD collection - unless I invest in a new computer. I bought it for the looks, features and brand - all of which are excellent, as long as you're not impatient.
