will windows media player covert a drm wma file to mp3? I'm not familiar with it other than the odd video clip playback.

Hi I'm running Sonic Stage 4.3 with my NW-HD5. Normally don't have any problems. However, the other day I purchased a track from HMV which downloaded in wma. It imported into SS4.3 but when I tried to transfer it I got an error message telling me I didn't have the permission. I ended up making an audio cd and then ripping it to MP3 to get it on my player which I'm sure it the long way round. Any idea what I was doing wrong or is this just the way it is?
