  1. The skin seems to be intact, at least the look and feel of the player hasn't changed since formatting HDD. When I try to view the system information, the player isn't able to compile it - it just keeps looping with the status "computing" until it shuts itself off due to inactivity. I don't believe there's a drive letter conflict. Here's two screenshots of the drive mapping and error message:
  2. Well.... When I formatted the Sony, I didn't "back up" the firmware. Now when I try to detect the firmware, it fails to do so. Could this be the issue? I still think I should be able to 'force' the driver, so I can at least transfer the firmware folder back into the Sony. (in which case I guess all my problems would be solved hehe)
  3. I have a 40GB VAIO Pocket with some issues. The device is no longer 'seen' by Sonic Stage, and barely recognized by my computer. I can see a disk drive in WE, but clicking on it always produces a generic I/O error. I guess it means the right driver isn't being used. When I look at the drive in Device Manager (Sony HMP-U01 USB Device), I can't seem to update the drivers. It's using c:\windows\system32\drivers\disk.sys or PartMgr.sys. I'm running Windows XP SP 2 on a Dell Latitude D620 laptop. I have tried the following: - re-formatted the Sony (due to some freezing issues I was having) - re-installed Sonic Stage (4.3) - did a clean re-install of SS 4.3 according to the ATRAClife FAQ - Windows safe-mode uninstall & clean re-install, according to FAQ - tried using different USB ports, and cables - installed SS on my wife's laptop and her desktop pc's All gave me the same result. No matter what I do, the Sony driver does not appear in Device Manager under non-plug and play drivers. Windows seems to be assigning a generic driver, I'm not sure why. I don't know how to 'force' or reassign the driver, or if that makes sense to try. At this point the player seems to be working, and I'd actually like to sell it but I want to verify that it plays music first! Any help would be greatly appreciated.
