  1. Yeah, that´s probably the only thing that pisses me off about my NW-A3000 :/
  2. hm, i turned off both network options and top100 and play history work perfectly artist link is a piece of crap though.
  3. Yeah, i know. But that won't work if you rate them manually. I'm sure i got songs with a good rating which i tend to forget to play. Well, that's not a problem, but it would be a lil nice feature
  4. Some additional auto playlists like the top100 would be cool, too. Like 'Least played songs' etc. or '3stars rating or better'. And more screensavers like you said. Should be possible to add some more with a new firmware.
  5. Hm maybe it's a database problem because you used SonicStage instead of Connect. I use Connect and haven't experienced anything like this. When my A3000 is in idle mode (i.e. just playing the songs in the playlist) it takes some seconds to access the database, but that's all. Last way out is propably resetting the whole database and setting up a new one..
  6. Same thing happened to me, so i turned off all networking functions + artist link It´s especially annoying if you have non mainstream music - the database doesn´t recognize the albums and uses another similar album; i.e. labels some drum&bass album as '60s swing from 1978 whatever
  7. Did you try to play the sample songs? I think your NW-A3000 is not the problem. Does your PC detect the player? I had the same problem, it´s a USB2 issue. Be sure that your USB ports support USB2.0. My PC froze over and over again until i finally realized i had no working USB2 port...
  8. You can edit the track number in Connect by rightclicking on a song and then choose properties. That´s a lot of work to do if you got a large collection, but it works.. btw, Connect also recognizes *.m3u playlists (Winamp playlists) and you can add them to your player, that will work too
  9. There are the 5 bookmark playlists plus the top100 playlist and i think you can't delete them, they are essential. However, there is that one "sample songs" playlist which you can delete via the Connect Player (click on the + in front of your NW-A3000 on the left, you should find the playlists there).
  10. A song has to be played for at least 15sec to have an effect on the playcount/top100 It's written somewhere in the manual..
  11. Yeah, that feature is kinda useless. For me it worked only on a couple of songs; the results were kinda useless, it found a song by the same artist and a remix done by the artist - nothing the "go to artist" option couldn´t have done Maybe my songs are just too underground i can imagine it works better with mainstream/charts stuff Hope they will improve that feature in an update...
  12. I got my A3000 today and so far i´m absolutely stunned. After reading all those forum posts about the Connect software i was prepared for the worst. But that´s totally not the case. It´s fast for me; the only thing that pisses me off is the gracenote database, it tries to fill all your 'unknown' id3 tag holes and edits them - i got a lot of tracks that are 2005 but gracenote thinks they are 1999/whatever. I haven´t experienced any lock ups until now. Playlist on the fly - have you tried that 'bookmark' thing? i think it´s supposed to work like that Connect doesn´t take 5-10mins to start up for me, more like 10sec The display is awesome, so nice to watch the whole thing work, when the light fades out; when it´s in idle mode and little animations are flying over the screen Transferring tracks is fast for me - again after all the posts i expected it to be really slow; not the case Only thing i can say: The new walkman is so much better than you would expect by reading forum posts.
  13. Thanks for clearing that up So, it doesn´t do anything to your mp3s besides activating both IDtags? It doesn´t change the IDtag information (artist/year/genre/etc.) itself?
  14. Can someone give me some information about the file system? Does the Connect player mess around with the mp3s on your pc? Like renaming them, moving etc.? Someone wrote it saves the files twice and takes a huge amount of disk space... I also read on another forum that it saves the mp3s as *.omg files? I don´t care how the files look on the player itself i.e. in what format they´re saved. But it would really suck if it changes the mp3s on your computer.
  15. There is a tool available on the sony website which allows you to add music via drag&drop onto your player: http://www.sonydigital-link.com/DNA/downlo...p&f=lp_mp3&l=en Maybe this will work with the NW-A series, too? Would be really interesting. Maybe someone who got one of those new players could check that out!? I´m sure i am not the only one who would like to know. Thanks in advance
