With podcasts I've set up a seperate folder which my podcast software (Nimiq) downloads the 'casts into. I've then set this folder up to be 'watched' by Connect Player, you can do this in the preferences under tools. This means the podcasts get uploaded to my NWA 3K but there is no way I've seen of generating playlists automatically I'm afraid

Hopefully it will solve the high processor and memory usage too, without tackling this problem anything else is a waste of time imho

GYM | Network Walkman BROWSER-PLAYER-EXTRACTOR

Not an option with an NWA1k or 3k. I've had no problems with upgrading to 1.2beta. I think you might have transfered to many files and deleted the databases. A set of upgrade instructions on the GYM homepage would be handy -
I work south of Mombassa during july and august. Friends of mine who live out there permenantly find that as long as you don't live too close to the beach (i.e. beach front) electronics fair ok although not as well as they do in a less humid enviroment. If your staying long term on the beach front then expect EVERYTHING to deteriorate suprisingly quickly, especially electronics and cd's etc

GYM | Network Walkman BROWSER-PLAYER-EXTRACTOR

I've now worked out which files to replace, the GYM.exe file and also the GYM XML file which there didn't seem to be a copy in version 1.12 I'm sure I read that once the KeyWizard has been run and the database is generated then it doesn't need doing again. And to bear that out the program seems to be working fine. The playlist function is FANTASTIC. I'd given up trying to use CONNECT to do this, I haven't got days worth of time to put aside for gererating each playlist in CP. Well done folks, I'm really looking forward to seeing future releases and the features you manage to incorporate. Sony should sit up and pay attention to what it is you have managed to acheive in a relatively short space of time: fast, light, reliable and functional software. Has Sony ever managed to do this?? -

To upgrade from GYM version 1.12 to version 1.2beta which files do I have to replace? Just a suggestion but it might be worth including upgrade instuctions on the GYM homepage -
Just had a look at mine and the information is a little bit different to above Mine is connected to my stereo using a standard stereo headphone style jack into the audio jack on the cradle. The charging is done via a USB cable, there is a std small USB port socket in the cradle that goes to a mains plug USB adaptor. I use the 'special' NWA3000 usb cable on my laptop upstairs. So the cradle uses a STD usb cable not the special cable with the specific NWA3000 plug on one end Hope this helps

False alarm, sorry. Don't know what it was up to. I have auto update set to just get on with it and it looked like it was doing something, the icon in the task bar was animated for nearly 15 mins. So whatever it was doing it hasn't changed any of the version numbers Once again I apologise if I got anyones hopes up of a version of Connect that might work somewhere near efficiently

Well exciting stuff here, the Connect auto update software appears to be downloading something and has been doing for a while, wonder what it is?? Could it be version 2, that would be exciting, chances are it wouldn't be much of an improvement, but it could be (:hope:  ) I'll let you know if there are any further developements

My installation of Connect runs and does the job but is so amazingly slow and uses so much of the system resources I don't know whether I'd describe it as ok. If I need to import any tracks or send some to my player I have to leave it overnight as it stuffs my laptop for anything else, and its not a slow laptop by any stretch of the imagination - 2.5Gb processor + 1/2Gb ram and plenty of hard drive space etc The Firmware upgrade is running fine, I'm not sure if the .wma tracks that connect had orginally converted to adtrac have been reverted back to .wma or not but to be honest I dont really care as its working at the moment and thats enough Hopefully Sony will pull something out of the bag with the next release of connect and solve all the problems, software that compares with the walkman will be very good, must say though I'm not optomistc, the track record with sonic stage is not good is it Ian

I haven't seen a V2.01 of connect avalable yet, (I'm in the UK) I'm using : CONNECT Player Version 1.0.02.11170 CONNECT Player Auto Update Version 1.0.02.11150 As upgraded by the auto update software along with V2.01 of the firmware for my NWA-3000. The new firmware update allows the player to use the .wma audio format I think you've mistaken the firmware update for a Connect update Ian

While it looks great IMHO your going down the wrong road here. The big advantage of this software is it eliminates the need for SS on players that mp3manager works on and the software is nice and 'lite' focusing on what is important. Ian -

Mine seems to, uploads via SS and plays fine. SS won't upload any tracks that have copyright protection to the player but will play them through the computer fine I think that all that is required for GYM is to correctly recognise file types -

Arrhhhh ffeeeewwwwww its alright, I tried a reset from the settings menu and it seems to have solved the problem, also GYM is working so after a bit of a panic all is well in the world, I'll go and take the dog for a walk
