  1. Hello,

    some questions about the player:

    1. What is the longish hole straight by the headphone connector?

    2. Is there any manual for the whole "secret menu", there where you can configure the volume?

    3. Is there an option to configure the start and end text of the device like "good music, good day"?

    Thanks a lot!

    best regards

    Marquis

The hole is for using a remote, the manual is on this site, not very difficult to find. Dunno about the Good Day thing.

  2. I was wondering if any of you guys are experiencing the same problem as me: dust building up under the top layer of the NW-A3000. I keep it in a case all the time and I've never dropped it but if I press the lower part of the front it creaks, and there's dust , mostly around the buttons, but also a bit on the screen already. I'm sure it's underneath the layer and i've got no idea on how to get it out. So who's having the same problem and/or does know what to do?

  3. Well ive just about had it with my NWA300, ive tried my desktop and laptop, freshinstalled about 5 times each, and tried loading 10 tracks with no luck!

so in my extremely pissy mood Sony have just been send a e-mail

If they bother theyre asses replying ill post up, maybe CP isnt working cus its loaded with root kits?  :ol_glance:  :ol_glance: i really do feel they let the tea boy design this one  :ol_mad:

Have you tried updating Connect before starting it? Mine has worked fine since I did that.

  4. Hi .. second post here ;)

So I got an nw-a3000 and have been extemely happy with it.  However I just noticed that for some reason when playing variable bit rate mp3s the time marker is all over the place.  Jumping back and forth seconds at a time, but the actual sound is fine.  It is not doing this on normal mp3s.  I am hoping that maybe this is because the battery is low and it's harder work playing VBRs or something lol?

Anyway, anyone else noticed anything like this?

*edit*  it seems that the time skips a lot more if the song is rewinded or fast forwarded.  Then the time skips back and forth before finally going back to normal.. the sound never skips.  And this does not affect normal mp3s at all.

Sorry to add more lol but.. if you are playing a vbr mp3 and pause and shut down the player.  When you power up to play the time goes mental.  Just me or.. ;)

When I power up the player it indeed does this, but not only with VBR..
  5. I never experienced this lockup with my A3000, Connect works fine (but slow), and I don't use playlists (and I absolutely wouldn't need to be able to sort on artist within a playlist :S) , so I love my Walkman :D, it's UI is much better then the iPod's, although I do miss the clickwheel.

  6. Thanks Stuge!

I will have an HD5 soon (i like the design much better :)

I hope it will be durable.

(i'm aware of the cracking buttons) but as long as it

doesn't affect the actual usage... it's fine for me.

I believe only the silver ones crack (as weird as that may sound).

  7. SonicStage works fine, I don't understand all the fuss about it (Connect doesn't work), what is easier then dragging your music to the library, go to the transfer screen and just pick what albums you want to put on it or have it done automatically?

  8. When you do go delete and uninstall the programs, it is always wise to remove the directories the programs created in windows, in the documents and settings area.

And if possible delete any registry entries, but do back that it up before any deletions, just in case.

SS3.3 should work fine on SP2 XP and shouldn't be giving you any problems.

My windows update doesn't work, though this is not an illegal windows version but the one that came with the computer :S But I came up with the bright idea to type omgjbox.exe in google, and I found a solution. Thanks for helping me with this. Too bad that mp3 file manager doesn't work..

And a unrelated question: If I convert mp3 to Atrac, will I get better battery life? Otherwise I won't bother.

  9. I bought a NW-A3000 today, but all three possibilities for file transfer don't work.

Connect player doesn't do anything when I try to start it .

SonicStage gives an error about omgjbox.exe (?) not working.

The mp3filemanager installer doesn't detect the player.

I tried reinstalling and separately installing everything now, but it just won't work.

EDIT: The unit does show up as a removable drive though.
