    Which IEM?

yama, read the forum post entitled "headphones for the NWA - 3000" sum good ideas in there. oli
  4. i've just bought a pair of SHURE e2c headphones. they are incredible!!! price to quality ratio is amazing (priced at £50 from headphoneworld) but originally a £70 earphone you can imagine how good they sound! Build quality is very very sturdy, (unlike sony equivalents which are floppy and breakable in comparison). Bass, mid, treb is well balanced, although you might need to EQ the sound using your player to bring the treble up a tad, which is what i found. They stay in your ears, (i use mine for hilly running) and they have never fallen out. sound isolation is good, all outside noise is blocked, allowing lower listening volumes.. however if you like to talk to people whilst listening to your music (which is kinda antisocial lol) then they wont be good for that. Cable thickness is 3 times the thickness of normal headphone cable making it harder to snap cables when snagged. again , the cable is well secured to the phone drivers, the cable runs over the top of your ears, which is SHURE's solution to sound vibrations through the cables. i cant say a bad thing about these phones, except possibly the styling of them.. they aren't the sexiest looking things, but they aren't ugly either, so its a fair bet there lol. the SHURE e2c is very popular, (being priced at £50 and being popular suggests they are worth the buy). all i can say is they are the best canal phones i've ever heard. if you listen to music frequently or like to workout while listening to music, buy these earphones! after all, if you spend £170 on the player itself, its gota be worth shelling out a bit on phones to reproduce the sound accurately... hope that helps oli
  5. sum good points there tomkat. judging by sum things you have said, i gather the impression you are a sound technician? what sort of work do you do? if money was no object i would buy the sennheiser equivalent, and the etymotics equivalent to the shure, and give them a test run, to see if it is just the shure's that need EQ'ing. however, i have got the sound balance spot on now, using EQ (sadly lol), and i'm starting to enjoy the sonic bliss of the e2c's! thanks again oli
  6. thanks for your response "tomkat". having read other threads, i've noticed you seem to talk intelligently about the subject matter, that i thank you for i've never been into EQ'ing, and i personally like yourself, prefer to hear the audio as it was intended, no messing around with it... but since buying the e2c's, i have certainly noticed the need to EQ them , as much as i hate to have to go there... its a shame shure cant make the phones, so that they sound neutral through sony players. however, for those who haven't heard, e2c's, dont be put off, they are superb!!! thanks again for your input. oli
  7. hi all, i own the NWA - 1000 mp3 player. having recently upgraded my phones from the stock buds to the SHURE e2c phones, i noticed that the e2c phones need to be equalized.... also having read the review put together by one of ATRAC's members, on different sets of phones, it talks about needing to EQualize the sound for the SHURE's... now for my question.. does it overload the output signal , if the bass and treble is set to the highest setting on EQ? or is the EQ settings designed to be pushed this high if needs be, to get the best sound from the headphones. second question, does anyone here, use the NWA - 1000 with SHURE e2c phones and can tell me a good EQ setting to use? any help is much appreciated cheers oli
  8. ye sorry for the double post. How do i format my device, and also does this erase all tracks and data from the device :S? many thanks, oli
  9. hi guys, i am an owner of the NWA - 1000 6GB walkman. have recently installed sonicstage 3.4 for connect, and also updated my connect player to version 1.0.04 (europe release). i have used sonicstage to copy music onto the mp3 player and it works well except that the top 100, and favourite shuffle features are disabled now (this is due to sonicstage not having full compatibility with NWA - 1000). OK, with the above explained, i am able to ask the question... after successfuly copying music from sonicstage 3.4 to the player (and the top 100, and favourite shuffle options being disabled with a msg saying "connect compliant software") i am lead to believe that i need to connect my player to connect player (version 1.0.04) in order to restore these features... NOW this is where the problem occurs.... when i plug the NWA - 1000 into the computer, and load up connect player (version 1.0.04) it displays a msg saying "the portable device failed to initialize and cannot be used" *error code: 82040307*. the device is not recognized by connect player, and it seems that this is after copying music files from sonicstage (version 3.4) onto the mp3 player. has anyone experienced this problem or knows the answer? your help would be much appreciated. thanks oli
