Can someone confirm whether or not the voltage of the A3000 charger is the same regardless of whether the cable is plugged into the USB of a PC or into the mains with the transformer please. I want to use the transformer to charge another USB device with the mains (but I don't want to blow it up trying).

1) no initialiising required *edit* actually it works best if you initialise the disk after you install the firmware then copy it all back from SSCP 2) It installs over the top

Haven't installed the firmware yet but I can confirm that the US version of SS4 works just fine in the UK - as long as you don't use Sony's overpriced Connect service. And it's gooooood. At last - intelligent shuffle, time machine mode, artist link etc!

I won't get Japanese character on my player / SS though will I?

I have a UK A3000, can I download the US / Japanese versions of the software / firmware or will I have to wait for the european versions?

Am I being thick or something? On CP I've got 3 compilation albums all listed with the Album Artist as Various Artists and each individual track being listed as the correct artist and this is fine however on my A3000 they're all listed by their artist name, not the album artist. What's going on? How do I fix this? Please help!!!

All of my CDs have been ripped with CP as I have no problems with using it on my PC. Still get the same problem though

Same problem / annoyance here. The only way I've found around it is to put in the artist name as something like Various Artists and name each track with both the artist and the title. Alternatively you can always search by album instead of artist but that doesn't help if you want to play all by an artist instead of just a single album. Ipods have this problem too. On SS or connect you can search by album artist or track artist, on the A3000 you can only search by track artist and this is the problem. Maybe on the next firmware upgrade....?

It will also play ATRAC cds This was the cheapest I found it at £99 and the service was really good - came next day.

Does a program like this already exist? Someone mentioned it on another thread and I can't find it anywhere. Would be very useful.

I've had no problems with CP at all. It's not windows media player by any means but it works fine - both ripping / copying and playing. A guy at work here couldn't get either CP or sonicstage to work though.

I would like to be able to search by album artist as ell as track artist - if I have a number of compilations all by various artists it is quicker to find "various artists" rather than trawl through all the albums until I find the one I want. If I can do it on the connect player, why can't I do it on the player itself?

If you rip ATRAC files straight off a CD into CP does it still need to contact GraceNote later to get the artist link info or is this all done when it gets the artist name at the start? Artist link is mostly working but is not picking up some really obvious connections. 90% of my songs are ripped off CDs with CP.
