Well that was blooming easy!!! Sonic stage took ~ 15 minutes to import the music and a further ~40mins to put across 14GB of music with no kicking or screaming!! Also all the advanced features ; artist link, shuffle etc are supported Why couldnt sony have done this in the first place??

Do'h might have been worth my while to add that vital bit of info! Its on my NW-A3000 cheers nino

Ive asked this before a while ago but i dont think i explained it very well and was miss understood. Say i have the following Albums --Artist | ------Metallica | ------ S&M CD1 | -------S&M CD2 Now i want to listen to ALL tracks on CD1 and CD2 on random. I cant see how it is possible to get the tracks from these 2 albums on the now playing list other than making a new playlist that is made up of these 2 CDs but that would require having a computer. Have sony been short sighted and assumed that people will only want to listen to 1 album at a time

Thanks for the reply folks, i keep forgetting to lift my cable from work (needless to say its safely stuffed in my bag at the minute) I wont worry about the structure getting messed with im going to do a complete format/defrag so everything is nice and fresh. Whats the transfer rates like? i have ~ 16GB of music to throw across am i better transferring a few GB at a time or just queue the lot up and leave it for a few hours/days/weeks cheers Nino

Back a few months i had to re transfer all my music and found the most stable means of doing this was the use of Sonic stage which resulted in me being un able to use the extended features of the player. I'm going to format my player and re transfer the music across theres quite a lot of music i no longer listen to on the player. My question is which Software is currently the most stable for transferring large volumes of music and will also allow me to make use of the extended features. Its times like these i wish i had a player that supported drag and drop of files!!!! Thanks Nino

I get the feeling im being extremely thick and missing something out but is it posssible to add multiple albums to to the now playing list? ie: i have metallica S&M disk 1 and 2 and i play 1 and 2 together in the same list. The only way i can see being able to do this is to add the 2 albums to a playlist and play the playlist which is a bit long winded! cheers Nino

i fully agree were being used to test the water before the launch in the US. As for Sony's technical support.......... if your installed XP by yourself you havnt got a mission!!!! Im just wondering why they decided to create the CP software. Surely they could have adapted the player to use sonic stage data giving support totime machine shuffe, rating etc Or use the Sonic Stage as a bases for the CP adding a new interface/functions if they needed. First reply from Sony: They then asked me a series of questions about my system/player. I have installed XP myself etc they then replied with

well it managed to download all the info, as well as the NETSTAT traffic there was a lot of HDD activity. When i woke this morning all of which had stoped so im assuming that all went well. Connect player is up to its old tricks again, i formatted the player and connected my player and load up CP it loads the tracks in CP's library the says its loading the MP3 player stalls at 99% and now i can do anything total freeze up any ideas? Nino AAAARRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH Stupid piece of shit!!!! I restarted my computer and loaded CP to be greated with "Database corrupt reinstalising" and all the tracks that were moved across last night are now gone from the library and i need to start again!!!!! and someone said CP was stable?!?!

i have to say im impressed with the new sonic stage it was able to import ~3000 tracks through netstat i can see that its connecting to gracenote and getting some data. ill leave it on overnight and see if theres any more connections going to gracenote in the morning (6 hours time) Nino

will it re write over any existing data?

to quote the manual [page 57]: its amazing what infomation you find when you read the manual Sh33p where do you do your airsofting? im an airsofting guy myself

does the artist link work via genre? i had a few hundred tracks all with the same genre and still no artist link (iu used CP to transfer them across). Im not saying for people to format their computers just that theres something on my computer thats not on yours that is messing me around. Ive formatted another computer in the house recently ill throw on CP and see what happens Nino

my artist link never worked when using connect player. there was talk of connect player working 100% on newly formatted machines. I think that theres something on peoples computers that are conflicting with CP. a fresh install would solve this and also explain why some people can get it to work while others cant. nino

Hi there, i just tested it on my player and it worked just like it should do. i went through the media library and selected an EP album only 3 tracks. Pressed and held hold to load them into the "now playing" area. I let the first track play a few seconds and fast forwarded it to the end and let it change to the second track by itself, i repeated this until the end of the 3rd and it went back to the start but paused then turned off after a bit. What firmware are you using? im running the 2.01 version, the player was bought from Argos UK Nino
