  1. Does Connect Player also use OpenMG? It could be that you u need to uninstall Connect Player AND OpenMG before you can install SonicStage.
  2. I have made an installation for 3.4 that does not require access to the internet after being downloaded. It is not a recommended replacement for the MDCF installer that will be available soon. For those you who know what you're doing and can't wait, it will be available via PM until the MDCF installer is ready. Warnings: -No warranty of any kind -Does not include certain packages like MDAC, Windows Media Runtime, etc. These have not been updated for a while. -Does not check for nor remove SS and OpenMG, you must remove these yourself first, otherwise it probably won't function properly. -Again, no warranty of any kind
  3. Did you get any response from them? I am interested in replacing my cover as well.
  4. I have so much battery life I don't even bother to turn it off when I take my earbuds out for class, etc. But all the possible scenarios have already been mentioned

    NW-E507 & Unicode?

The player themselves are unicode compliant. OpenMG is as well, it is only SonicStage ( and Connect it seems ) that are not compliant. Running your Windows with the right settings will allow you to transfer without losing the unicode encodings. Or, just use AppLoc.
  6. Amazon is no longer offering the NW-E507 themselves, maybe new players will come once the supply of the 5x series dry out? Don't get your hopes up!
  7. Yeah, the hiss, or static, or whatever it is , is not much of an issue for me. It is there though, but unless I'm listening to it in near complete silence, I don't hear it. Trying to play some music when going to sleep really brings out the hiss though. At that point it's very annoying.

    NW-A608 colors

I see, I hope Sony does release it here for 199.99, but the better do so before I decide on something else!
  9. In my pockets. I bought some neckstrap earphones when I went back to Taiwan..and then I left them there

True, but my camera takes SD cards Too bad I only have a 256 mb one I wonder if AAC sounds better than atrac at bitrates in the 100-128kbps range. These 192-320kbps mp3s I have really fill up my 507 fast! Isn't the 2 gig Nano $199? -10% edu discount for me..179 vs 249 *faint. That's almost 50% more for the sony.

My roommate is a Japanese international student, and he's going back for xmas ;D $430 US for both, or $215 each seems about the same as in Canada? $250 CAD = $216 US. Unless it was meant that it's $250 US in Canada... The limited editions always sell for less than the regular editions anyways. Plus, I don't listen to the radio Also, I just saw this new player from Panasonic and now I'm not so sure if i want an NW-A608. Not an atrac device, but worth a look nonetheless. http://panasonic.jp/d-audio/sd750v/index.html 45 hours battery life, giving Sony a run for the money! But it costs even more

Any one want to split the winter special? About $430 for both, converting yen to US
  13. I have static using my NW-E507 and the earphones that came with my MD-N1(? forgot already ) These sound infinitely better than the stock with the NW-E507, but I can't say how'd they compare to other high quality ones. I can hear static if the volume is around 5 or below, and in a quiet environment. Nothing that really bothers me, but it could as well just be the earphones.. Oh, it's a N10, I have it listed in my profile haha.

    NW-A608 availability

NW-E4xx/5xx are all USB 1.1, 2.0 compatible meaning it'll work in a USB 2.0 port. Actually, on Sony's Japan website, there is no claim about USB 2.0 at all. Someone in marketing somewhere outside of Japan decided it would be really nifty to add USB 2.0 compatible and confuse everyone. Of course anything USB 1.1 is 2.0 compatible, sheesh.
  15. Probably the key he used to install his Windows is blacklisted.
  16. Is there any place where we can send feedback or request features from Sony? I would really like to be able to press certain keys (like volume + -) on my NW-E507 when the player is in the hold state and have the time displayed. If it supported that, I may just stop wearing my watch
  17. I'm not sure if 2.0 will work with the newer Network Walkmans because of the built in unicode support. It would seem that a newer OpenMG would be required to support them because the version that came with 2.0 is not unicode compatible.
  18. I have both Japanese and Chinese (not just Kanji) working on my English NW-E507. I made no registry changes. The NW-E507 completely supports unicode on the player itself, it's a pity non of Sony's software does other than the OpenMG backend. I merely use AppLoc to run SonicStage in Japanese or Chinese when I need to add songs. AppLoc also works with the MP3 Manager. I am using my own SS 3.1 installer, but I believe the one by Daijoubu is the same version.
  19. Maybe I will ask my roommate who is currently in Japan to get one for me, and then sell my current one to cover most of the cost. I can flash the Japanese one w/ the English firmware to change the menus to English, right?
  20. Currently, I have the silver NW-E507. However, I like the azure blue color a lot better and so am wondering how are the prices in Japan? $269 from AudioCubes is a bit steep for me considering that I paid less than half that for mine.
  21. I wish they would/could make it so pressing certian buttons when it's on hold will show the clock. Like my Sony Ericsson phone, when I press the volume buttons when it's locked, I get the time, instead of do you want to unlock?
