Conversion/Transfer Problem in Sonicstage 3.4
freebird2003 replied to freebird2003's topic in Software
if the problem can't be solved, i have no choice but to really stay with ss3.1. but it does not have atrac3+ 192 kps conversion rate. if i were to use atrac3+ 256 kps for my hd5, i think it is a waste of disk space. -
i have FFdshow install. it is a vital program for me. as i mention earlier, i did not have any problem with ss3.1. i am sure that there is no conflict issue with ffdshow & ss3.1 because i can convert them with out any issues. the problem arrives with ss3.4.

drmoze, have you solved your problem ??

The same error msg appeared. "Sonicstage (00000908-7209) Cannot convert the specified track. Possibe reasons may include: The Track (files) cannot be found. Sonicstage does not support the file format of the track. the track is copyright protected. (00000000)" i email them my problem. at the moment, i uninstall/delete all sonicstage & openmg related progarm/folders/registary entries. i am juz wait for their reply. -
Scenario 1 i have install sonicstage 3.1. but i have don't want to import my mp3s(which is located in a external drive) to the sonicstage yet. if i upgrade to sonicstage 3.4, when i import my mp3s, will i be able to convert my mp3s to atrac format and transfer to my HD5 without any problem ? when converting mp3 to atrac and transfering files to atrac devices the error msg appears. does that mean the required DRM files is not in the sonicstage 3.4 directory? Scenario 2 same as Scenario 1, but this time before i do the upgrade to sonicstage 3.4, i juz import a dummy mp3 file to sonicstage 3.1 and convert it to atrac format. after that, i perform the sonicstage backup tool. By doing this, will sonicstage backup the nessasery DRM files to the backup ? after the backup is done, i upgrade to sonicstage 3.4 and restore the backup ? will i be able to perform the mp3(import from external drive) to atrac without any error msg? plz share your views and suggestion. Thank you ref: http://www.atraclife.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=1389

Problem: Unable to transfer songs in ATRAC format to HD5
freebird2003 replied to freebird2003's question in Audio
i juz did an expirement. i juz want to know wat is the problem. at the moment i have nothing to lose expect time. since i have backup my programs and songs. i reformated my comp and install all my nessesary apps. than i install sonicstage 3.4 after reboot, i start the sonicstage 3.4 program. i juz pick a song from my drive and tried to convert to atrac format. the same error msg came. "cannot convert the specific Track Blah Blah Blah" i juz don't know wat is the problem. i downloaded the ss3.4 web installer from sony ap site. now i am thinking should i get the ss3.4 from other region sites. i tried to look into the cd that came with my HD5. it contain some setup reg programs in the common folder and sonicstage folder. i am wondering, does the sonicstage requires some reg setup files to be install inorder songs to be converted to atrac format ? i juz wrote and email to sony abt the problem that i am having. juz crossing my fingers. they have not reply yet. i hope they will give me a solution. -
Thanks alot your reply. now i am started to respect and learn how sonicstage work.

the manual the came with the HD5, states the in to apply the sound settings, the format must be in atrac plus format. if i convert my mp3s to atrac 192kps, does that mean i not able to apply my sound settings. this is the steps i took before i transfer my songs to hd5. plz advise me on my steps. what should i do and what should i not do. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- i am a fan of musicmatch. i manage my entire music library in musicmatch. i don't see the nessasary to import my entire music library to sonicstage. 1. i pick the songs i want in musicmatch and save them in a playlist 2. under sonicstage, i import the playlist. 3. i select the entire songs that i previously import from the playlist 4. i right click, select convert format (select the desired format) 5. sonicstage will begin the conversion. 6. after conversion, i select the entire songs, right click and select delete (but delete form computer check box is untick) i do this because i dont want the sonicstage to transfer the mp3 versions of the songs 7. now, i import the so call optimize files which is the atrac files. hence, now only the atrac files are in sonicstage. 8. than i will transfer all this files to my HD5 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- my mp3 are store in another drive and the optimise files (atrac files) are stored in my local drive (C:) my mp3 already in another drive, why should i do a backup?

what is the best atract bit rate i should convert my mp3s? i would only like to transfer atrac file to my HD5 because of the sound setting. the sound settings only support atrac. At the moment, i convert a 128 kps mp3 to atrac plus 64kps. the quality is not bad but i can hear the difference. i am actually very particular abt sound quality. furthermore i don't want the files to take up alot of space. i have about 5gb of songs. i tested a 3mb song @ 128kps to convert to atrac plus 256kps. supprisingly the size of the output file became about 6mb. plz advise. thanks.
