No, I have the same copy as you. I have used it for years with no problems. I don't know what all the complaining is about. I run it on 5 different computers with different specs and operating systems and sync multiple Sony devices with them and have no problem. This doesn't mean it couldn't be improved but to say the players are great but not buy one because of the software is very poor advice.

I have never had any trouble with Sonicstage and find it hard to believe that people do have trouble The quality of the encoding is excellent and in my experience it is very stable. I run SS on multiple computers of different configurations, running XP and Vista and would assume I would be having problems if anyone was. I am not saying it is perfect, it could do with podcast support as in Image Converter and a better method of importing compilation mp3 albums, but I don't think it deserves the bad rap it gets from virtually everyone.

I see there is a version 1.02 on the Japanese Sony site. Is there an english version anywhere?Link

Did you install the Image converter software as my computer would not recognise the walkman until I did. I think the drivers are in that package.

Can someone tell me the buttons to press to go from Main Menu to Settings to Firmware update so I can upgrade to the english version? Thanks.
