Anatomy of NW-A1000 (similar to NW-A3000) can be found here http://www.fogma.co.uk/electronics/337.html

OpenMGSetup v5 (installed with SS4.4) does contain areacode (OmgCore_Jp.ini) as follows: [Hi-MD PD Plug-in] AreaCode=262144 [Atrac Audio Device PD Plug-in] CheckoutModel=1 AreaCode=262144

I have no experience on NW-A828 . If Japanese is Greek to you, try installing English version 4.3.

OK, I finally found where is the problem. If you download from IE, make sure your default download file type is not "zip" (when windows pop up for your saving location, you can change it). Simplest way: delete the ".zip" extension excluding NW-S710F package.

It works. Ignore the instant cursor information, simply click on it, then a download windows will be displayed.

1. Download your favorite skin (*.ojs) from one of the following links (click select your favorite skin and download it) a. http://www.sonymatome.com/sonicstage/index...%83%BC%E3%83%89** **IE will save ojs as zip. If so, remove the ".zip" extension excluding NW-S710F b. http://page.freett.com/azy/skin_ss.html c. http://www18.ocn.ne.jp/~yum/gallary/ d. http://www.evolbird.com/material/sonicstage_skin/ 2. Unzip it if needed, and copy the *.ojs file/s into c:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Sony Corporation\SonicStage\Skins. ("Application Data" is hidden by default) 3. Now select the skin in SS. Enjoy

WMP11>Options>Library>Monitor Folders...>Add Important, if you execute "Delete" inside WMP11, the listed SS songs will be purged

1. No need to change as following(depends on your Windows original default): Regional and Language Options>Text Services and Input Languages>Default input language>English (United States) - US 2. No need to run with AppLocale (both mentioned programs), forget it. If Japanese/Chinese characters are still garbled, change the default language (normally there is no need to do this step), say, to Japanese as following: Regional and Language Options>Advanced>Language for non-Unicode programs>Japanese or Chinese ... It works for latest and earlier SS versions on Windows 2000 or Windows XP. Not tested on Vista. Hope this helps

Likewise, WAV is also a kind of compression but higher at 1411kbps (for normal Music CD: 44,100 samples per second × 16 bits per sample × 2 channels = 1,411,200 bps = 1,378.125 kbps (k=1024), SACD is 64 times higher than that)

Use SS "Import Folder" will keep the CD's metadata - depending on your mp3 data, say, year, bitrate (incorrect on VBR), ... I currently play with other Sony player, and don't want to play the A3000 at the moment. Do you mean the A3000 can play with the mains charger on after activating the Intelligent Features?
-
Select Tools>Options>Transfer>Transfer Settings>Advanced..> "Intelligent Features">Use Intelligent Features>Transfer after Getting .... Please take note it takes (long) time if SS needs to get it from the Internet. Strange! I never find it plays via earphone while connecting with a PC, or charging. Maybe I disable this feature on my A3000??

Does the song title in SonicStage containing East Asian Languages characters? If so, make sure "Install files for East Asian languages" is selected (and dim) ( Control Panel>Date, ..., Regional Options>Regional and Language Options>Language>) Removing files inside "program files>common files>sony shared" will destroy your Atrac song ID that making fresh SS no longer has rights to transfer it except re-importing it but messed.
