Actually, no. The HD5 is noticeably 'smoother' and also noticeably deficient in technical ability whichever codec you use, and this is prety apparent when compared alongside the Karma, iPod and JB3. In terms of the geek figures, it also measures relatively speaking a lot worse than the aforementioned players. The difference is much harder to detect by ear between the iRiver/iAudio and the HD5 especially with the iRiver, but at the psychological level the HD5 was once again 'nicer' yet 'not as good'.
