  1. No apology needed. I should have mentioned that we do offer microphone sets matched to within 1/2dB. Of course, it takes extra time to do this and there is a nominal fee for the service. For most folks, it's not necessary and they would rather save the $$. Chris
  2. The difference can come from any piece of electronics (or all) in the audio chain. The mics are matched to within 3db, so it could be the mics. As long as the difference is less than 3dB, they are not defective Chris Carfagno The Sound Professionals
  3. Here is another mount for digital recorders: http://www.soundprofessionals.com/cgi-bin/.../item/SP-DRSM-1 Thanks The Sound Professionals
  4. Since the BMC-2 mic element is in a housing, it would be the more durable. If durability is really important to you, consider the SP-BMC-3 instead which uses a beefier cable and rubber covered brass housing: http://www.soundprofessionals.com/cgi-bin/gold/item/SP-BMC-3 Chris Carfagno
  5. Thanks for asking. The BMC-1 with the standard sensitivity option and BMC-2 use the exact same mic elements so the only difference is the housing. The BMC-2 is in a rubber holder about the size of a jelly bean. The BMC-1 is just covered in rubber tubing, which is very strong, but makes the mic smaller. Lastly, the BMC-1 is also avalable in a high sensitivity version, which has lower self noise and more sensitivity. THis is not available on the BMC-2. Hope this helps! 6. Hello: Wheather you get the 707 or keep the 505 won't really matter if all you want to record live is loud music....in either case, you will need a good mic and a battery box. I don't know if your Sony mic will handle loud sounds, even with a battery box, but it may. It's not unusual for a good set of mics that are able to handle the high SPL's encountered at a rock show to cost more that the recorder they are plugged into. Low cost mics often just can't handle the loud music levels. If you need more info, have a look here: http://www.soundprofessionals.com/cgi-bin/...gi?category=faq Hope this helps!
  7. Hello: I don't know if you will find any decent mic under $20, but we have one that is close: http://www.soundprofessionals.com/cgi-bin/...MM-1&type=store Hope that helps!
