  1. Which one did you buy, a MZ-E25 (as stated in the title) or a MZ-E250 (never heard of that one). Shouldn't be a problem unless you're planning to do other things with it then listening to music. Unfortunately yes, mine never gave me more them 3 hours of playback time. Things are a little better when you use a gumstick battery. Mine never did that. Sounds to me that there's something wrong with the remote.
  2. That's not true. I have a Sony DVD player connected optically to my Sony MD deck and I also get the "cannot copy" message when trying to copy something from a DVD digitally (mine has been set to PCM instead of DD). Every DVD player from the bigger brands (Sony, Pioneer, Panasonic etc.) has SMCS installed.
  3. I read that it's possible to bump up the power of the amp. The only downside is that it requires you to open the Walkman and solder a few things onto the the mainboard. I'm not even going to try that.
  4. Did this really make a big difference Philip. I'm about to buy a N910 and I'm also worried about the low power output (although acoording to AV Land it's the same output as the Japanese model). I was thinking of importing one from Japan but, if this does the trick I'm going to buy it at my regular Sony dealer.
  5. I took a look at the link and as far as I can see it's British. So how you got an American warranty card is beyond me. Maybe they imported a few American models that were cheap. Take a look at this site. A lot of people recommend them: AudioCubes They sell Japanese models and have very interesting prices.
  6. If you bought it at a British website it's an European model. I don't have a clue how it's possible that your warranty is only valid in the US. Could you give me the link to the shop you bought it? I'm quite curious how this is possible.
  7. Take a look at this site: AV Land Most models have the headphone output level stated. It's the only site I know that has this information. I saw that the Sharp models have higher output levels then the Sony's. Maybe you should take a look at their models.
  8. I think you're better of buying a higher specs Walkman. I think, just like me, you like to crank it up when you hear a good song. You'll need a more powerful amplifier for this. You'll have to decide which one you're buying. Just make sure it has at least 2 x 5mW power output. I'm a big Sony freak and about to buy a MZ-N910 so, it comes recommended. You could look into other headphones. The EX70 are great headphones. I've been using a pair of these for over 1,5 years now and they cancel out a lot external noise. But, you're still stuck with the low power output of your Walkman.
  9. The problem is that the N710 has very low power output (only 2 x 1.2mW). I don't know if this has to do with regulations but, as far as I can see the N710 is the only model which has this low power output. I hate to say it but, some investigation could have prevented your problem. I wouldn't throw it in the bin though. Try selling it as this will at least give you back some of the money you invested. Taping over cassettes onto MD should be no problem. I think you were expecting to hear CD quality when transfered to MD. This is not the case, the MD transfers everything from the cassette (which includes noise). So, Sony did not lie at all when they stated this would be no problem. Like you already said, you'll need to use a computer program if you want to get rid of the static.
  10. Do you have an European model? If so, the power of the amplifier is lower when compared to the US or Japanese model. This has to do with the regulations in the EU.
  11. I had to make the same decision you are making. I choose the N910 because I don't like the built in battery of the N10. Also, I liked the design of N910 more then that of the N10. Basicly the only difference between the N10 and N910 is the built in battery of the N10 versus a normal battery in the N910.
  12. They did make 2 decks that could be connected directly to a PC. Take a look at this link: http://www.minidisc.org/part_Sony_MDS-NT1.html The MDS-NT1 has NetMD but, it has been released in 2001 so it might be a bit hard to find them. They also weren't that popular.
