  1. He overdrafted his bank account, so he won't be able to compensate me for weeks. I really wanted to get a NH900 or at least live comfortably this paycheck, but I'm forced to spend it on a computer. Blagh..and I had just purchased some heatsinks and stuff off newegg. When they get here, I'm just going to be like.."Noooo." So, any recommendations? I don't even know what my budget is - I may have to wait till my next paycheck before I can purchase something I'd be comfortable with [no need to get something crappy].
  2. When you did the format, you went straight to connect.com and downloaded Sonicstage 2.1 and that's it, or what did you do before that?
  3. Stingy, but did you know that you can playback the audio in realtime via USB and capture that with another program such as Adobe Audition, Audacity, etc - hence a true 1:1 digital upload. No big whoop, sanaka; people are "sitting pretty" in Hi-MD land, too.
  4. Isn't there enhanced wireless functionality with SP2? I didn't really mess with it, but I saw a few new options in the Control Panel that weren't there before.
  5. Darn right. I fear the black is only sold in Europe, though..and I can't face a 'cap.
  6. So, ..my girlfriend's brother just got the final components to build his computer, a rinkydink Athlon XP 2600+ with a K7S5A Pro motherboard. Decent combo for his usual emulating practices. I oversaw him build a new computer, case, mobo, processor, heatsink, etc etc and it all goes well..or so it seems. The end is finally upon us and the computer is plugged in. When you do this often [build computers], you come to hate that moment when you plug it in for the first time - seeing if all your work paid off or not. It's an odd feeling of disparity. He looked at me and said, "Hold on to your butts." - referring to that cheesy line from Jurassic Park. We both grinned and.. Well, it didn't boot. Something was wrong, quite wrong indeed. The processor, the Athlon 2600xp, was too much [speed wise, but there's a catch] for this little motherboard - and this could be cured by a flash of the bios; granted you could actually run a disk in DOS. He couldn't do so, so for some stupid reason I suggest we take my processor and put it in his mobo [a compatible one] My friends had just arrived, so I was hanging out with them whilst he did so, and a weird sense came over me. I knew something was wrong. Bloody wrong - and I just wanted to enjoy a nice draft. He was sitting there in my room, looking at the computer and he had this expression I'll never forget. I was able to tell right then and there that it was broken. A silent glance that spoke volumes. We troubleshot it a little bit, and then he revealed he tried to use a screwdriver to get the processor out! I knew it was all over then. The worst part was yet to come though.. My girlfriend, who owned the computer. Well, it wasn't pretty, that's all I'll say. At least I'll have a computer at work, and it gives me a good time to upgrade to an Athlon64. I still hate unforseen expenses, though - and it just sucks.
  7. The low mW issue with the N710 is only relevant in Europe, otherwise it's a fine recording unit.
  8. Welcome to the forums, regardless.
  9. If I'm not mistaken, it took longer to recharge the battery than it's actual lifespan.
  10. Excellent - my favorite type of people to work with. I can definitely wet your pallete, so to speak. How much space do you have for this device? A nightstand? Be more specific. Take a picture, if possible. I want to recommend something that will asthetically match and fit within the required dimensions.
  11. Welcome! What's your maximum budget?
  12. I've been using the final version for about 4 days now, and it's pretty solid. I won't go over all the changes [this info is readily available at most major related websites], but I will dispense my perspective as a cable ISP tech support - it's an absolute godsend. The amount of people in this world who do not have some sort of proprietary firewall or anti-virus setup on their computer far outweighs those who do. SP2 comes with a basic "security center" that overviews firewall, anti-virus and windowsupdate(s) - three key things that are the prime annoyance [as seemingly no one adheres to any of it] in my job each and every day. If Microsoft had made the features within SP2 standard when XP initally debuted, billions of dollars lost because of sasser, msblaster, etc wouldn't have been, and I'm sure the economy would've taken a lesser hit. I lost alot of sanity troubleshooting incessant aforementioned virus-related woes, and I think this is going to be a great step in the right direction for a company that has more than 90% market share. It may cause issues with Sonicstage II, but this hasn't been defined yet. I'd like to get some feedback on that if possible.
  13. How can the NH800 and NH900 be the same price? Is an AM/FM radio considered that desireable in the UK?
  14. Possibly, but I doubt it because it seems like Windows can't even find the program at all. Did you try opening the program from the directory from where it's located?
  15. I would suggest uninstalling everything again as per the directions and then installing via the online update. If that doesn't work, then I dunno.
  16. So you uninstalled everything, did the registry edits and all and installed a fresh copy from connect.com and you still recieved the same error? Are you sure?
  17. Please refer to the NetMD faq found in this forum, specifically the re-install directions. Welcome, and good luck!
  18. Rirsa, that's an excellent and well-summarized counterpoint that I see Capn has no objections to. I really value posts such as these as it puts a certain sense of maturity + class within these forums. I look forward to more posts from the both of you.
  19. I didn't mean removing Sony ATRAC codecs, I meant other non-Sony ATRAC codecs. You may want to try deleting the ones that aren't necessary for your system.
  20. I'm going to go ahead and unsticky this topic as the number of sites that have Hi-MD units for sale are quite abundant and easily findable through the aforementioned sites, your local electronics retailer, eBay, froogle + more. Feel free to keep replying, nonetheless.
  21. Don't bother with the NH-10wm. Refer to the batteries mentioned in this thread: http://forums.minidisc.org/viewtopic.php?t=5672
  22. The differences are minimal between 1400 + 1450 mAh; it's probably not even worth it to look exclusively for 1450mAh batteries. I'm not sure about that charger, and I've never seen it outside that locale. I do see them on eBay quite a bit, however.
  23. If you've made a trade, sale or whatnot through this forum, please spend a moment to give good praise [or bad] for the person you dealt with! Make such posts here, please: http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showforum=94
