  1. They don't really have to go there, mmp - the topic has just been bastardized by the media so much as of late that people are afraid to touch these new units - or any of Sony's music playing portables in general. I don't even like *.mp3 anyway, and I doubt that it'd really be that big of a deal if they DID support it. Now if they supported ogg or the like, that'd be a different story. You're dead on about the single file, though.
  2. In a response, This feature is only available with Hi-MD units, as NetMD units do not facilitate playback through USB. --------- I hope Kirby^3, that you've been able to navigate through our maze of posts and formulate an opinion. If you are still utterly confused, or have any additional questions, feel free to ask.
  3. This is covered in the NetMD faq. Welcome, btw. http://forums.minidisc.org/viewtopic.php?t=4171
  4. Eh, no. That device records in 8kHz, 16 bit mono WAV files, much different [not to mention less] than the capabilities of a Hi-MD or even MD unit.

Welcome, Rouster. Unfortunately, the only way you can delete tracks on a NetMD unit such as this is through Sonicstage. If you're having problems with Sonicstage, I suggest you uninstall it via the directions here: http://forums.minidisc.org/viewtopic.php?t=4171 [make sure you follow the uninstall directions to the tee.] ..and install a fresh copy of Sonicstage 2.1 from connect.com.
  6. Don't forget, you can set your theme back to the old one if you want.
  7. I would post your realtime uploading woes in a thread at a relevant forum [i.e. Live Recording]. Many of our members have Hi-MD units are beginning to master/adapt to the new limitations that have been put upon us..with great success. Good luck!
  8. I've downloaded this clip and hosted it on my own servers. You won't have to worry about bandwidth and such, but I would ask that people DO save it and not stream it. Thanks! Anyway, this recording is pretty nice! Unfortunately, I'm at work so I won't be able to give it a good listen until later. What I did hear was really enviromental. So clear. Are you going to release an ambient sounds album? I'd be interested.
  9. Welcome, Aniblade. The webmaster of this site was able to get the information about the *.wav converter. He has solid inside sources with Sony and I doubt he would make such a claim without merit. Also, read this: http://forums.minidisc.org/viewtopic.php?p=26761
  10. Try uninstalling everything just via the control panel, then install your device driver only from the supplied cd and then install Sonicstage 2.1 from connect.com
  11. Not a bad find - I will note that official Sony NiMH's [aka "gumstick" + 1450mAh] are available on eBay for less than $10, though.
  12. Download Lucida Grande, the main font for this theme, here: http://www.realdealstubblefield.com/forums...load.php?id=605
  13. I think you should go for the MD-DR7. Was the sound quality of the DR420 sufficent for you? If I'm not mistaken, it should have rivaled what you were employing before. I believe that the build quality of the DR7 would satisfy. http://minidisc.org/part_Sharp_MD-DR470+DR480+DR7.html Where are you located? I can find a good e-tailer for you to use.
  14. Your browser text size is too big. Lower it by one or two and the difference should be pretty apparent. I apologize for this, and I'll see what I can do to accomidate you as you're a valued contributor to the forums.
  15. Possibly. I have SP2 as well but no longer employ a NetMD unit. I don't have a Hi-MD unit either. Not sure what to tell you, perhaps someone later who gets SP2 + uses Sonicstage II will be able to assist..or Sony will release a patch.
  16. I'll need to see a screenshot, if possible. I'm not getting these types of formatting errors in that type of configuration.
  17. Have you scanned for viruses and/or spyware? Go to housecall.trendmicro.com for a free online virus scan [i'm a cable ISP tech support, just hear me out], and download ad-aware [make sure you update it first before scanning] and assure that it's nothing of that nature.
  18. Alot of the kinks have been worked out but there are still some things missing across the board. They will be corrected gradually. The old theme, subTrail [ya know, the green one], is now available as an alternative theme if you choose not to employ this one.
  19. Welcome. Have you read the NetMD faq first? http://forums.minidisc.org/viewtopic.php?t=4171
  20. I would have to agree, somewhat - espesically with "average tape recordings". It all depends, though..don't be embarassed if that bitrate sounds good to you. Some people like it and don't have any problem with it, and we don't scorn them [completely].
  21. Thanks for your replies [and votes]. What resolution are you running, jade?
  22. Do this: How to properly reinstall NetMD: WARNING: If you use a Sony VAIO with preinstalled software provided by Sony or use other software developed by Sony, do not follow the procedure below. 1. Uninstall all OpenMG related software via the Add/Remove Programs control panel and reboot as necessary. This includes, but is not limited to, OpenMG 2.2, related 'Limited Patches' and the 'Secure Module', SonicStage 1.x/2.x, Simple Burner 1.x/2.x, and software by RealNetworks. Make sure that you unplug your unit before doing so. 2. If you run Windows XP/Windows 2000 Professional, proceed to delete the following directories: "Documents and SettingsAll UsersApplication DataSony Corporation", "Program FilesCommon FilesSony Shared", "Program FilesSony". 3. Start -> Run -> regedit. The 'Registry Editor' utility should appear on your screen. Delete the references to OpenMG located under 'HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareSony Corporation' and 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareSony Corporation' by right-clicking on the entries. 4. Disabling any anti-virus software that is running in the background to free up some resources [if necessary]. Update your installation of Windows at Microsoft Windows Update (windowsupdate.microsoft.com). For Windows 2000 Professional users, you are recommended to upgrade to Service Pack 3 or later. Make sure that your unit is disconnected and install the latest build of SonicStage 2.x from Sony Connect/Sony Connect Europe. The drivers for Sony units will automaticaly be installed. (If you use a Panasonic or Sharp Hi-MD/NetMD unit, install your drivers before you install the actual software!) Restart if prompted to do so; if not, it is still recommended that you do so. Plug in your unit, and start SonicStage 2.x. ..so we can make sure it's not a software issue.
  23. It's called the Sharp MD-DS77. It's strangely the same as the MD-DS55 on the inside, but has better asthetics in my opinion. More information here.
  24. I need your opinion, and don't be afraid to give me the blunt truth. I'm not nearly done customizing things yet, but I'm just about at that point. Please reply; your words matter.
