  1. I'd give anything to even see a Qualia product in real life, or better yet, all of them. You have to wonder how the real EXQ1's would sound. Reviews on head-fi made it seem above average in performance, with a bright sound and less emphasis on bass (very common for Sony earbuds in this timeframe), and much more powerful than the EX71. However, they don't seem to be any better than a similarly priced Shure/Ety solution. Who knows though. Here's a cool gallery of the EXQ1: http://mp3.zol.com.c...30/160093.shtml Ah, Qualia. The Sony building used to have them all together in a display, but I doubt it's still there after all this time. That was one of the greatest series of products from Sony. I miss those crazy days of innovation and lavish spending on cutting edge R&D. Too bad it backfired.
  2. Let's add a list in the download link description of all the models that the driver works for.
  3. The biggest priority in running a forum is making sure its a positive experience. If you think anyone is throwing an attitude please PM us..we will look into it and warn accordingly. I think its really great that a lot us still come around and I would hate to have a bad seed ruin what we've got going. I haven't played a MD unit in a while but I think I want to go get my Sharp DS8 and listen to a couple of SP rips I have laying around somewhere..
  4. We have completed a move to a new dedicated server. The specifications include: Dell 210 - X3430 (2.4ghz, quad core)RAM: 4GB DDR3 Drives: 500GBUplink Port Speed: 100mbpsBandwidth: 10 TB Bandwidth So, this should make a pretty big difference for speed and also new features going forward (including the long-awaited return of the gallery). Let me know if you have any problems.

Something I commonly do on troubled systems is go to Start, then type in msconfig in the search bar. Click on the "Startup" tab and uncheck anything that is unnecessary to load at startup. If you're not comfortable with this, you can take a screenshot of the items in that list and I can tell you what to disable. This will at least lower the number of processes at startup.
  6. Just wondering if you have seen this or not, but its a site Sony hosts that has source code for many of their products. They have a page specifically for the NAC-HD1E, perhaps you will find it useful: http://www.sony.net/...io/NAC-HD1.html p.s. Thanks for the great post. Content like this reminds me why its worth keeping this place around.

Welcome to the forum. Yes, I looked at sfbp's link and the User Guide: http://www.docs.sony.com/release/VGNTX600_USA_userguide276.pdf ..seems to be what you asked for. Was there a specific question you had in mind?

We’ll be referring to it as the NGP for brevity, plus it sounds cooler. Although I wonder if Sony should play brand recognition and keep it associated with the name we all thought it would be, which is PSP2. Not to mention there’s nearly five million results for PSP2 on Google. Let’s talk about the hardware. It’s juicy. In fact, it’s so delicious that you really get a sense that Sony is playing three to five year specifications with this launch. I am praying that there will be no delay in its introduction and that it is commercially available in the USA in early December or late November. It could be the true hero of the holidays. NGP should look familiar to many of you, as its appearance is very similiar to the PSP. However, the NGP includes the highly-requested dual analogue sticks. There’s also a

NGP should look familiar to many of you, as its appearance is very similiar to the PSP. However, the NGP includes the highly-requested dual analogue sticks. There’s also a D-pad, and a set of standard PlayStation buttons (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/7/7b/PlayStationTriangle.svg/16px-PlayStationTriangle.svg.png http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/5/58/PlayStationCircle.svg/16px-PlayStationCircle.svg.png http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/c/c2/PlayStationX.svg/16px-PlayStationX.svg.png http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/4/42/PlayStationSquare.svg/16px-PlayStationSquare.svg.png), two shoulder buttons (L and R), a PlayStation button as well as Start and Select buttons. In between the analog sticks, a stunning 5 inch OLED capacitive touchscreen is capable of a 960×544 (16:9) resolution and 16 million colors. An interesting addition is the rear multi-touch pad (capacitive) that game developers can use to create new, unique gaming experiences with this type of input. There’s also front and rear cameras, but specifications on each haven’t been revealed yet. You can see it demonstrated in the video below, and we’ll cover this in greater detail later. In response to the iPhone/iPod Touch, there’s no doubt that this PSP successor has it all, including a six-axis motion sensing system (three-axis gyroscope, three-axis accelerometer), and three-axis electronic compass. Speakers return to Sony’s new gaming dynamo, along with a microphone. GPS, 3G, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi (802.b/g/n) support round out connectivity options. There will be a NGP offered without 3G. It will be interesting to see how much wireless (3G) data will cost, and if carriers will offer bundles and so forth. Internally, the NGP features a mind blowing quad-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor. There’s also a SGX543MP4+ Graphics processing unit, which will run the “LiveArea” as its main user interface, which succeeds the XrossMediaBar (XMB) for the PlayStation Portable. For more detailed analysis of the processor and graphics hardware, take a look at this insightful article about NGP’s CPU/GPU I found at PS3 Center. If you want to see some quick video of the NGP in action, check out these Game demos presented earlier today at the “PlayStation Meeting” press conference in Japan. Uncharted | Hot Shots | Little Deviants. Amazing. (click to start the video where the NGP is announced – 23:27) Here is the complete one hour and thirty minute “PlayStation Meeting” in HD (and English) courtesy of Gamespot. Most of you already know a great deal about the NGP, but it’s nice to watch the introduction and videos in high quality. Unfortunately, Kaz (and others) are speaking in Japanese. So you will have listen to a translator, but it is still enjoyable and better than most videos out there. http://www.sonyinsider.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/5392075335_e3b50b9f71_o-700x417.jpg Games have been announced for the device, including Uncharted: Portable, Hustle Kings, Hot Shots Golf Next as well as new iterations of Killzone, Wipeout, Resistance, LittleBigPlanet and Call of Duty. The device will also be backwards compatible, supporting any downloadable PlayStation Portable game, existing owners can simply transfer their digital content over to the new device. Several third-party studios showcased technology demos of the device by exporting existing assets from their PlayStation 3 counterpart and then rendering them on the device. Some of the games that were demonstrated include Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, Yakuza 4 and Lost Planet 2. Sony has told publishers that the device will be “as powerful as the PlayStation 3.” id Software Founder/Technical Director John Carmack, creator of genre-defining games such as Doom, tweeted enthusiastically about the NGP. Carmack tweeted, “Low level APIs will allow the Sony NGP to perform about a generation beyond smart phones with comparable specs.” Game developer support looks pretty outstanding, as an early announcement thread at NeoGaf lists just how numerous: JAPAN ACQUIRE Corp., ALVION Inc., AQ INTERACTIVE INC., ARC SYSTEM WORKS Co.,Ltd., ARIKA CO.,LTD., ARTDINK CORPORATION ASCII MEDIA WORKS Inc., CAPCOM CO., LTD., CHUN SOFT CO. 10. Sony has not officially introduced the new line up of VAIO notebooks, however we have mentioned before and a chatter on the internets showed up some commotion about the upcoming VAIO SA/SB series. Like with other VAIO models, Sony is sticking with its alphabetic naming scheme (just look at the generations of E series that started with EA and currently at EF modification). So it was pretty much expected to see the S series VAIO evolve into newer updated line. So according to good lads and girls at notebookreview.com some European vendors have been spilling information about the SA/SB series. There is nothing totally groundbreaking, however the specs look pretty good and weight wise it is not bad at all. Looks wise, we think that the concept VAIOs that were introduced at CES very well might be the new SA/SB series. SA series look to be more premium type offering Solid State drives, Intel i7 CPU, while SB series will feature i5 CPU and lowed end graphics. Here are a few examples of the upcoming models that surfaced in Europe: SA Series: VPC-SA1Z9E 13.3″/i7-2620M/8GB/256GB SSD/HD663M 1GB/WIN7PRO/1.46KG , 2.799,00 VPC-SA1X9E/XI Intel Core i7-2620M Processor, Windows 7 Professional 64bit, 4GB DDR3 SDRAM Memory, 128GB Dual SSD (RAID 0), 13.3″ WXGA++ (1600×900) VAIO Display Plus, AMD Radeon HD 6630M + Intel HD Graphics 1GB, DVD SuperMulti Drive, HDMI, 802.11a/b/g/n

We all know that CES product extravaganza usually would be a good indicator of what to expect pretty much for all markets and not just the US, however it looks like January 20th was a big day for Sony Europe and Sony Japan, where the company officially revealed the Bravia family line up and also announced some pricing information. It is interesting to note that in the Japanese event in Tokyo has not revealed any information on the high end model – the HX92 series range. However, the event that took place in Copenhagen brought forth some interesting details and classification of the Bravia offerings. Expect to see the following in Europe: there are three ranges that Sony would like you to look at while choosing your new TV: Cinematic Range which represents HX72 (40 and 46″ models), HX82(46″ and 55″) and high end HX92 (46″, 55″ and 65″) models. The latter will be supplied with a pair of two new and improved 3D glasses and the KDL-65HX92 will even have Skype HD camera included in the package. For all the bells and whistles please see the slide below. Note that USB recording is included as a feature and will support USB Hard Drives (Sony recommends Western Digital brand) and USB flash drives. The US models are lacking that feature apparently. Expect the 55″ model sell for 3300 Euro. Presence Range features one and only Edge LED NX72 series. The 55″ model will be released in March/April for 2400 Euro. Essential Range consists of budget and lower end Bravia models including Edge LED EX32, EX52/72 as well as regular CCFL LCD models such as BX32/42 and CX52. It’s interesting to note again that the range in the CX line up (32″, 40″ and 46″) has a pretty beefy specification sheet and includes pretty nice features such as X-Reality, Skype, WiFi, DLNA, Clear Phase Speaker, S-Force Front Surround 3D, S-Master Digital Amplifier, Presence Sensor, Web Browser, etc. I would have loved to see these two: S-Force Front Surround 3D, S-Master Digital Amplifier included with the HX models as they represent Sony’s technology used in many Audio products as well as new 2011 Handycams. Here is a pricing table available for some of the models above: In Japan similar models were introduced except the high end HX models (most likely will be revealed later since they won’t be shipping those until late summer) and a number of Internet enabled apps will be included, for example what surprised us the most is a Twitter application is present in Japanese models and has been totally omitted in the US and EU models, and I am sure we all on this side and the other side of the pond tweet a lot! Bravia XBR10 was the last one to feature Twitter here in the US back in 2009. Lots of other apps are included and are specific to Japanese market like DMM.tv, U-Next, Shufoo, Public Transportation schedule, Life-X (a combination of photo sharing services), acTVila and even Felica. 14. It’s not very often you would see Sony show off its future concept ideas for their VAIO line up, however this time they made an exception and brought 2 models to tease us. In our opinion however those two models seemed more of a pre-production type products rather than concept per say that usually may stay in R&D lab and never see the light on a shelf of a store. At this point there were no model identifiers or model numbers found on these VAIOs, but we can speculate the following: The 13 inch model that really stood out looks like to be a a successor to S series (SA/SB series) or a VAIO Z replacement, as we saw similar Graphic button switch and the overall feel of it was of a high-end premium VAIO. From CES 2011 This particular model will be featuring a “sheet battery” that will double its life cycle. Think of sheet battery as a VAIO X extended battery that covered the whole bottom of the notebook, however the new design is much thinner and snaps onto the bottom of the notebook seamlessly. From CES 2011 From CES 2011 Sheet batteries can be charged separately with an adapter. We also spotted an actual model number of the sheet battery that read: VGP-BPSC24. From CES 2011 At this point we don’t know what this VAIO be rocking under its hood however expect a USB 3.0 and the latest Intel CPU and a backlit keyboard with improved touch pad and bigger touch left and right buttons. From CES 2011 The 14 inch model looks to be in the range of VAIO C/E series with its translucent, neon-colored plastic and had and much more rounded front and back edges. The model will most likely have second generation Core Intel chip. From CES 2011 View the full article

  18. Sony often has interesting exhibits and displays during large trade shows, and during CES 2011 the real gem was a stunning Monolithic Design exhibit. From the primary booth entrance, a row of droolworthy 55″ HX929 series BRAVIA TVs led to the origin of Sony’s TV design inspiration. Amusingly, the sheer size and open layout of Sony’s booth may have left this artistic vision overlooked by many attendees. The large, monolithic black screen was surrounded by thin slate and was something truly reminiscent of 2001: A Space Odyssey. I hate to wax poetic here, but there was just something so surreal whenever you were near the setup; it just stopped you in your tracks. The pure reflectivity of the black screen was nearly mirror like and breathtaking. The screen would light up at times, and show off two white blocks colliding into each other before going dim. Rather esoteric. Even as I took pictures people who walked by could not help but stop to stare and gaze at the monolith. It was almost like a calming scene amidst the chaos of CES. Stan M shot a great video of the monolithic screen and also a 55″ HX929 3D/HD LED LCD TV nearby, as you can see in the video (we juiced it up with Bond music as usual). View the full article
  19. The Social Network is a 2010 drama film about the founding of the social networking website Facebook and the resulting lawsuits. The film was directed by David Fincher and features an ensemble cast including Jesse Eisenberg, Andrew Garfield, Justin Timberlake, Brenda Song, Armie Hammer, Max Minghella, Rashida Jones, Joseph Mazzello, and Rooney Mara. Aaron Sorkin adapted his screenplay from Ben Mezrich’s 2009 nonfiction book The Accidental Billionaires. Sorkin also makes a cameo appearance as a would-be investor. No Facebook personnel, including founder Mark Zuckerberg, were involved with the project, although Eduardo Saverin was a consultant for Mezrich’s story. The film was released in the United States by Columbia Pictures (Sony) on October 1, 2010 to critical acclaim. The film won the award for Best Motion Picture – Drama at the 68th Golden Globe Awards on January 16, 2011. The film also won the awards for Best Director, Best Screenplay and Best Original Score (Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross), making it the film with the most wins at the 68th Golden Globe Awards. Review aggregate Rotten Tomatoes reports that 97% of critics have given the film a positive review based on 261 reviews, with an average score of 9/10 and a critical consensus of: “Impeccably scripted, beautifully directed, and filled with fine performances, The Social Network is a riveting, ambitious example of modern filmmaking at its finest.” It has a 100% among “Top Critics”. The film also holds a score of 95 based on 42 reviews on Metacritic, indicating “universal acclaim” and making it one of the site’s highest rated movies of all time. Film critic Roger Ebert of the Chicago Sun-Times, giving it four stars wrote: “David Fincher’s film has the rare quality of being not only as smart as its brilliant hero, but in the same way. It is cocksure, impatient, cold, exciting and instinctively perceptive.” Peter Travers of Rolling Stone, gave the film his first full four star rating of the year and said: “The Social Network is the movie of the year. But Fincher and Sorkin triumph by taking it further. Lacing their scathing with an aching sadness, they define the dark irony of the past decade.” The Social Network has been nominated for over 180 awards, winning 104, and has several nominations still pending. Here is a Q&A with some of the major players of The Social Network after the Golden Globes: View the full article
  20. Spider-Man is an upcoming superhero film currently in production. A fourth entry in the Spider-Man film franchise was planned for release in 2011; however, in 2010 the film was cancelled due to Sam Raimi’s withdrawal from the project. Sony announced that the franchise will in turn be rebooted with new director Marc Webb and a new cast which includes Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, and Rhys Ifans as the Lizard. The reboot’s intention is to have Peter Parker back to developing his abilities in high school. It is scheduled to be released in 3-D on July 3, 2012. Sony Pictures sent out an e-mail last week to the press with the first exclusive photo of Andrew Garfield in the Spider-Man costume, as seen above. The film began shooting on December 6, 2010 in Los Angeles. The film is the first Hollywood production to be filmed with the RED Epic camera, and is being shot in 3D at 5K resolution. The 90-day film shoot will include two weeks in New York City, while the bulk of filming will occur in and around Los Angeles, including such locations as the Henry Fonda Theater in Hollywood, Immanuel Presbyterian Church in Mid-Wilshire, and various locations around South Pasadena, San Pedro, and Woodland Hills. 23. Believe or not, but many 2011 Sony BRAVIA devices (TVs, Blu-ray players, etc) have a built-in web browser accessible through the updated XMB interface. This was not officially announced at CES 2011, but as you can see in our exclusive hands-on video that the browser was most certainly functional. According to our sources, the browser is HTML5/Java compliant, and is powered by a MIPS processor. We heard that one day it might be upgradeable to support flash, but no time table was given. Tabbed browsing is supported, and you can also utilize the TrackID service to identify which song is playing in the browser. In our video of the BRAVIA Internet Browser, you can see that the test page loaded rather slowly. This is mostly due to the horrendous Internet speeds available in Las Vegas during CES 2011. Regardless, even on a diamond connection it wouldn’t be the fastest browsing experience because of the slow hardware, but this is still a nice option. Browser settings are fairly basic, including adjustments for Character Size, Javascript Setup, Cookie Settings, and the option to delete all Cookies. There are also options for Bookmarks, Next/Previous Page, Stop, Refresh, Enter URL, Zoom, Open in New Window, Character Encoding, and Details. When you are entering in a website address, it can be a little slow as you have to do it through a T9 interface, using the remote’s numeral keys to enter in the letters. BRAVIA Internet Browser should be available on products such as the HX929, HX820, NX720, HX729 televisions. We are still working to confirm compatibility on the EX series TVs and the various BDP-S series Blu-ray players. View the full article
  24. The Sony α55 is a midrange-level camera, released in August 2010. It is a breakthrough in camera design due to its being the first digital single-lens translucent camera, (along with the Sony α33). As an SLT, it features phase detection auto focus in live view along with an electronic viewfinder, due to usage of a half-mirror instead of a standard, solid mirror. Because its translucent mirror does not have to flip up to take a shot, the camera is able to take up to 10 frames per second while continuously focusing – a feat that is a first in its class. It’s also one of the first four Sony Alpha reflex cameras with video mode included, capable of 1080i. It is also the first DSLR camera capable of using phase-detection autofocus during video recording. It has body-integrated image stabilization, and a 16.2 MPx APS-C CMOS sensor. Did you know that the Sony Alpha A55 is one of the company’s greenest products yet? During CES 2011, Sony revealed waste plastic from optical disc manufacturing are converted into recycled plastic for use in Alpha cameras. A total of 21 different exterior parts of the Sony A55 series uses recycled plastics. Sony uses over 15,000 tons of this material annually in various products, including TVs, PCs and cameras.
