The odd 132k for LP2 has a reason:
Old SP has a datarate of 292kBit.
Does the new ATRAC3plus SP 256kbps sound better than the older ATRAC-R SP of 292kbps?
I know they claim it does, but does it really?
As far as middle of the road bit rates, I think there are enough already. The only upgrade at this time I would like to see is the data trasfer from simple burner AND SonicStage is an ATRAC3plus SP 256kbps AND ATRAC-R SP of 292kbps trafer rate. That way I can get the best possable sound for my older MD car unit and my new Hi-MD portable recorder.

It is now well-established that SS randomly munges tracks [unrecoverably] during uploads.
Does anyone know why that is? Is it a problem with SS or was it designed to do such a thing. I would hope there would be a fix for that.
Would it be better to use different software to upload from HiMD?

OK...made a 79 min dnb mix last night. Recorded via PCM on a 1GB disc and recorded right in my NH1. I first copied the file into sonicstage 2.2's "My Library"...which took about 60 mins. Next, opened up Wav Converter...converted the file within 1 min...
I thought that that Sony's Wav Converter would not allow conversions to WAV if the source was from a digital source. Are you saying that you recorded your audio with a "MIC" or "Line In" to the PCM format on HiMD?
In that case I can see the Wav Converter working with that. Oh, and I thought that the trasfer from HiMD to computer would be faster than that. Why did it take so long?

Well.... I have released it. And i have posted a link on the minidisc forum
Is your software easy to use? Another words, is it point and click? I had read ealier that one had to know "commands" and that sounds like a DOS thing to me...something I'm not very good at.
Thanks,

I have noticed with at least one of the new portable Hi-MD recorders and the new Hi-MD players, Sony is using the term "High Definition" digital amp.
Anyone know if this is like Sharp's use of their 1 bit digital amp?
I would expect that it probably is and probably has about the same sound
quality.

Just had a thought, though: You can buy Windows emulator programs for Macintosh computers. Could you run SonicStage on a Macintosh this way? Has anyone out there tried this?
Jeffery
Not an expert, however I read that these emulators do not have the drivers for USB devices or something like that. So I don't beleive it will work.

I thought that Hi-Md was going to continue on for pros to possibly replace DAT. Has anyone ever heard any mention of that,
Thanks!
